The U.S. military is one of the largest organizations in the world. Every American knows someone who wears, or has worn, the uniform. Despite the humiliating degeneration of the leadership under Trump, the rank-and-file are patriots who have committed themselves to service.
Now every one of them is being put at risk in a war of choice. And for what?
On Meet the Press, Kristen Welker asked Lindsay Graham if we’re at war.
WELKER: Senator, let me start with the big question. Is the United States at war with Iran?
GRAHAM: I think the Ayatollah would say yeah. I don’t know if this is technically a war but we’re… Here’s what I can say the headline is for me Sunday. The mothership of terrorism is sinking. The captain is dead.

This snarky, dismissive attitude about starting a conflict with a major world power that has already killed American troops—for no apparent reason—epitomizes the ignorance and obscenity of elites: “I don’t know if this is technically a war… but the captain is dead.”
How many times have we heard this before?
The last several weeks have been immensely revealing, not just about the terrible mess America is now, but about what, and who, paved the very long road to getting here.
