“Antifa” is Weaponized

Careful when interacting with this meme

As it often does during times of peak radicalization, the word “Antifa” is trending again.

Unfortunately, while there are many legitimate antifascist “Antifa” branded accounts like the above who seems to be justifiably celebrating a true American patriot in the family, there are just as many that are there just to provide a target for fascists and to be as embarrassing as possible.

“Antifa” — It’s Complicated

“Antifa” is not an organization or even an ideology, it’s a meme, which can be weaponized. And boy howdy has it.

This is all completely fabricated scapegoating. “Antifa” never initiates violence, beyond a few isolated cases, most of which were likely manufactured by right wing propagandists like Andy Ngo and people he has planted on the left. #MilkshakeHeadache #Chad

This is just a random tiny sample. I certainly have no problem with anyone using “Antifa” as a brand for legitimate activism, as long as they aren’t appropriating it to cause chaos and create targets for propagandists.

Me, I’ll stick with antifascist.
