Biden Administration Bows to Nazi Trolling: Disinformation Board “Paused”

It is impossible to overstate how bad this is

I’m trying not to freak out but the Biden administration fucked this up so badly, I am having a hard time finding a light at the end of the tunnel anymore.

Everything about this story screams that the administration has no idea what they’re doing. What happened is chilling.

1. The administration sort of announced a Disinformation Board with Nina Jankowicz, who is highly qualified, to head it up. However, the purpose and process of the Board was left opaque.

2. Right-wing propagandists, led by Russian asset and literal nazi Jack Posobiec, trolled Jankowicz, threatened her life, and called the Board the “Ministry of Truth.”

3. The administration apparently had no idea that would happen. SERIOUSLY? Anyone who had a single clue about how the right-wing propaganda machine works would have KNOWN with 100% certainly that exactly that would happen.

4. Caught off guard, the administration muzzled Jankowicz — and allowed disinformation about the Disinformation Board to spread unanswered.

5. Now, because of this coordinated disinformation campaign about the Disinformation Board, the administration is “pausing” Board activities, including all working groups.

What happened at each of these steps was the opposite of what should have been done. A competent administration would have used the disinformation campaign as an example of how propaganda works. Instead they bowed to a bunch of white nationalist trolls and gave credibility to their attacks.

We’re losing this war. Joe needs to get his shit together or we’re done here.

UPDATE: Nina Jankowicz was on Chris Hayes complaining. I was unimpressed. What an entire clusterfuck.
