Chains: Minneapolis Is Fort Sumter in Reverse
The Confederacy has returned—in the form of the federal government.
In December, a decision was taken by the President of the United States and his regime to begin a second civil war in Minneapolis. The city was chosen because of its history of protest after George Floyd was murdered, and because its governor, Tim Walz, was seen as vulnerable—and had run against Trump with a Black woman.
The federal government began the assault with psychological warfare—a barrage of racist propaganda about Somali immigrants started on X/Twitter by White House-approved, 23-year-old amateur provocateur Nick Shirley. Elon Musk actively boosted Shirley’s deceptive videos to astronomical viral status—north of 200 million views—and went on a streak of hardcore eugenicist racist attacks against Somalis, echoed by Stephen Miller.
For weeks, the Trump regime sustained a racist dehumanization campaign on Somalis, representing them as subhuman, “low IQ,” and worthy of ethnic cleansing.
Then overnight, Kristi Noem, Corey Lewandowski, Greg Bovino and 3,000 untrained, violent gestapo began a sustained assault on the city: demanding papers, smashing windows, detaining citizens, breaking into people’s homes without a warrant, and finally executing two protesters in the street.
In one protest on January 18th, a group entered a church in Minneapolis that has a pastor who is also an ICE officer—to let the church know that what the government is doing is wrong, and un-Christian. Well-known former CNN journalist Don Lemon, a Black man, arrived at the scene, reported on the protest, and did interviews with parishioners about the importance of dialogue.
Despite Lemon engaging in no remotely criminal behavior, on Thursday night, the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested Don Lemon while he was covering the Grammys in Los Angeles—about 10 miles from me. One of the charges comes under the KKK Act, a deliberate reversal of its intent.
Friday morning, to celebrate the false arrest of Don Lemon for the crime of journalism, the White House posted a black & white image of him, with the message:
“When life gives you lemons… ⛓️”
To represent the illegal arrest of a Black journalist, the government did not use handcuffs. It used chains, one of the most potent and dark symbols of subjugation, and American slavery.
This series of events, driven purely by racism, involving the siege of an American city by the U.S. government and two extrajudicial executions by masked paramilitaries, is nothing short of a reverse Battle of Fort Sumter—the barrage of a Union fort by the Confederacy in April 1861 that started the Civil War.
In an Atlantic article published this week, Tim Walz asked the right question—even though he already knows the answer:
“I mean, is this a Fort Sumter?” he mused today in an interview in his office at the state capitol. The island fortification near Charleston, South Carolina, is where Confederate forces fired the first shots of the Civil War in 1861. Now it’s federal forces that are risking a breach. “It’s a physical assault,” Walz told me. “It’s an armed force that’s assaulting, that’s killing my constituents, my citizens.”
This is an attempt to recreate the Confederacy through violence—to relitigate the Civil War. Except this time, the Confederates control the federal government and the military.
The purpose of the siege on Minneapolis was doubly racist—to kidnap, assault, and traumatize as many brown people as possible, and to scapegoat Somalis as a menace to society. The arrest of Don Lemon with symbolic chains is a declaration of victory for a Confederate government, signaling a return to an antebellum fantasy of white supremacy and Black slavery.
The near-simultaneous arrest of Don Lemon—and the seizing of votes from the Fulton County, GA election office—were carried out by the FBI under Kash Patel—which has now been fully converted to a lawless, unconstitutional secret police force for Trump.
In December 2024, after Trump nominated Patel to the job, Russian state propagandist Vladimir Solovyov said:
“What an excellent team is coming along with Trump! If they are allowed to get in, they will quickly dismantle America brick by brick. They are so great!
Trump’s nominee to head the FBI, Kash Patel, is simply on fire. He is a beaut! He is very, very good.”
Brick by brick. Murder by murder. Arrest by arrest. The project is right on schedule.
This Confederate regime will never allow itself to be voted out. The second civil war has begun. It’s just about when we collectively choose to admit it.
“You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.”

Dark times ahead for our country.
Roughly 30% of our fellow citizens have revealed themselves to be deeply racist
and fully embracing of downright Nazi ideology.
This corrupt regime must be defeated in November.
If we don’t take the House and maybe the Senate, our democracy will cease to exist.
And if we do, don’t expect a peaceful transition because they will cheat and try every trick in the book to nullify the result. Don’t give up!!!
