“Conspirador Norteno” aka Remi Barrette Seriously Screwed Up This Time

I don’t know Chahal, but he is not happy at all and rightfully so. Twitter suspended his non-profit’s Twitter account for no conceivable reason.

So why was his account suspended? Well, people who have been following me for a while will not be surprised it involves “Conspirador Norteno” aka Remi Barrette.

Remi is a dangerous, harmful operative who has been targeting people through coordinated harassment and technical tools for six years. Just a few days ago he targeted my podcast in retaliation for an article I posted along with several of his long-time colleagues.

But it’s not just targeting people on Twitter, it’s manufacturing disinformation like the “Alfa Bank” hoax that led to the Durham “investigation” with British Brexit propagandist and fake “Resister” Louise Mensch.

Back to Chahal. A couple of months ago, he went after Axios and backed it up with facts and data. I have no particular dog in this fight but this is certainly free speech.

-33% of @danprimack followers have zero engagement/tweets/replies in 1 year. -21% 33% accounts from a reporter has zero engagement/tweets/replies in 3 years. Since, we know he bought his followers, we looked at the underlying organization, @axios as well.

But, lo and behold, along comes Remi Barrette to dispute Chahal. As I have mentioned, this guy suspends people he doesn’t like through a system involving coordinated harassment, inauthentic reporting and access to Twitter tools that Remi should not have.

@gchahal @danprimack @axios How did you reach the conclusion that @danprimack's followers were purchased? Having a lot of inactive accounts in the mix isn't unusual for an account with that many followers, and I don't see anything terribly unusual in this follow order by creation date plot.

When Chahal pushed back, a variety of familiar faces showed right up to defend Remi.

This guy’s name is Cody Webb (allegedly) and he is one of the most technical and most vicious trolls on Twitter. He’s worked with and for crews like The Shed and Troll Army, and consorts with people like white nationalists Doug Stewart and Spicci, Louise Mensch and William Welna.

And finally, we have the queen of disinformation, trolling and psyops herself, Louise (Fucking) Mensch who both pays for and coordinates a huge amount of the harm that happens on Twitter backing up her longtime colleague Remi Barrette.

The formula this team of coordinated harassers employ is clear and repeated.

1. Identify a target

2. Find something “controversial” to pick on

3. Show up “concern trolling” with charts and graphs if possible

4. Egg on the target to have an emotional reaction

5. Exploit the reaction by flooding Twitter Support with inauthentic reports

6. Use Twitter tools to accept the false reports as a reason for suspension

This is Remi Barrette’s playbook and it needs to fucking stop.

So it seems to me, that Twitter is stuck here. They can try to ignore Chahal or they can give his account back. Ignoring him seems unwise. If they give his account back they better fucking give me mine back too.
