There’s a series the kids watched a few years back called stranger things. It was about this entity , dark looming all encompassing. Ooozing evil and destruction. Appeared like a cloud over this city. Anyway fairly decent show but my point is that thing, that entity that hung like a dark mass of evil energy…that’s what I’m feeling. Heavy yuck.

In terms of social/political society, I think of an event horizon as Rosa Park's refusal. There is always a "spark". Still, we need organization behind the scenes to support these actions and follow through. That is what NAACP did and they were effective! Do we have a national coalition for the eradication of racism? blaming/scapegoating? bullying? misogyny?
They always do but the path, the pain and destruction is what we are just starting to see, that has been here for decades.
If more voters were involved in a position that their life is nothing without democracy/liberty/freedoms, and the ability to be empathic, I'd feel better but most don't know that without one there is not the other. Messaging matters but in this case it's secondary to what Jim has been trying to educate on!
I agree. Its going to be a long, hard, slog. The system was not good befire T came onto the scene. When we are past this I hope we have invented a new and improved form to govern with. You are right about the apathy in our citizens. I have friends who are just going along paying no attention. They think they couldn't change things even if they tried.
The ground needs to shake under your friend's feet. Something needs to impact them directly and drag them out of their comfort zone. For many Americans, life is good, and many decent and thoughtful folks would rather watch the World Series or go shopping. My concern is that by that time, it will be too little, too late. Playing fiddles while Rome is burning.
I agree Ryan. And Im talking about two of my best friends. I have other friends that recognize what is going on but dont spend time resisting.
One more thing, Im in a purple state, NC. At least half the people here dont even think we are in peril. It is very frustrating. Ive been red hot about it. And doing political volunteer work for 3 years.
I think after Nov 1, if Snap is cut out, and medicaid reduced, and ACA Insur premiums skyrocket, there will be many lower midde income oeople here ready to fight in the resistance.

The internet has compounded the problem and people's lack of true substance, in a time where cat photos rule, and info is considered too timely. We have much to fix unless we want to become bio-fuel oil! Yuck, but serious.
I wonder if MAGA, after watching those video clips they would still support trump? If they did then it then it would definitely support your theory. trump has found like minded people, not just conned them but they are exactly like him. If America had talked about it's slavery and racism issues years ago then maybe they wouldn't be in this mess today. There was a "rally" outside my home today being held in the park across the street. While walking my dog I asked what it was all about. They said they were demonstrating against illegals in the country. I just threw up my hands and said "fuck! so what is this? A make Britain great again?" They stared at me dumbstruck. They didn't know how to react! They had planted flags all over the park and as people started to show up they came with their own flags wrapped around their shoulders. We are not a flag waving country so it looks like somebody was guiding them. I suspect American infiltrators. Maybe all told there were less than 100 people there and the police turned up and stationed around the perimeter of the park. There were about a half a dozen paddy wagons, Police vans and about 100 police men and women. Nothing much happened there was some chanting once and speakers on a stage. It certainly wasn't as scary or as ridiculous as a trump rally and think the amount of police were there to create a necessary show of force for prevention. As I walked around the police smiled and treated me well as they seemed to know I wasn't one of that lot. This neighbourhood is very diverse with residents from all over the world. I was glad that they didn't get their obvious aim of a big turnout. The staging was definitely expecting a bigger audience.
Can't wait to see the live feed of Trump, Musk, Thiel, Miller, Kushner, Bannon, and a few more in the inner circle, hunkered down in the bunker, waiting the last few seconds to take their cyanide pills.
