Dear Special Counsel Smith

We are counting on you

Merrick Garland announced Jack Smith as Special Counsel in two cases — the classified documents at Mar-a-lago and the interference with the peaceful transfer of power on 1/6.

Dear Jack Smith, Special Counsel:

Thank you for your service accepting this historic responsibility and the personal risk that goes with it. Your actions may determine the fate of our national experiment in democracy. We all need you to succeed.

Like many others, I opposed the appointment of a Special Counsel because it seems like a punt by the Attorney General and a delay tactic by the establishment — ensuring yet again that criminals and traitors will walk free while democracy falls.

Frankly, a lot of us assume you are Robert Mueller 2.0, in which case you might as well be the Grim Reaper for America.

However, you have a chance to change that dark future with ethics and courage in the face of brutal propaganda, malign influence operations and outright terrorism in the effort to stop you from getting to the truth. It may be that you are better suited for this role than Merrick Garland. I certainly hope so.

Do not submerge yourself like Robert Mueller did. That was a choice, not a requirement of the position — and it was the wrong one. It left Americans in the dark, gave disinformation the time to fester and metastasize in the body politic, and gave Bill Barr the opportunity to mischaracterize and neuter Mueller’s work.

Get out in front of the cameras and assure the American people you are going to get all the way to the bottom of this. This is not just about Donald Trump. Provide every bit of information you can along the way without compromising your case. You serve us. Remember that.

Please note that the insurrection on January 6th, 2021 was an audible called by Mike Flynn after the first plan to overthrow the government to keep Donald Trump in power failed to materialize. 1/6 was PLAN B of a large, well-organized conspiracy that is still ongoing.

Crucially, the insurrection was driven by traitors in service to Vladimir Putin. This is not a domestic terrorism or corruption case alone. 1/6 and the ongoing operation that spawned it is a psychological warfare attack by a foreign enemy nation-state — by Russia, in Putin’s project to weaken the west and annex Europe into his empire.

All of the people at the center of this plan to overthrow the government are compromised by Putin or his agents. All of them.

Finally, do not be trapped into old DOJ tactics alone for solving this case. This is a new kind of crime, a digital warfare attack that almost succeeded in physically overthrowing the government. The evidence for that attack is open source intelligence (OSINT).

Special Counsel Smith, you have done fantastic work in the past and your work in Kosovo at the Hague should familiarize you with the dangers of Russian imperial aggression. As it happens, you are investigating Russian aggression again — in America. I hope you recognize it.
