YES JIM -- I've been screaming this from the Rooftops too -- I'm now going door-to-door -- with my Democracy Warrior info packet - - info from Gil Duran & Dave Troy , pro-democracy resources/actions, Democracy Defender & Speak Out bracelets - our country & the R's have been CAPTURED; this is a hostile takeover, a rolling COUP; I'm saying, "how are you doing, pls speak out and get involved, go to a protest; stand on a street corner with some friends, a sign and a smile" -- next major action is June 14 , we need gazillions to show up then -- July 4 is super important too; everyone and their brother should be out in the streets VERY SOON. We need major action, resistance, 10 - 13 M people should be engaged, in the streets. Talk to everyone you know -- grocery clerk, etc. What's happening is NOT NORMAL and it's CRIMINAL, TOTALLY UNLAWFUL. We need to keep saying that. I still hopeful that we can raise enough HELL to make something happen -- Not sure what, impeach? ? get the R's out of Congress? Not sure, but EDUCATION of the public is the first step.

Thank you Jim for all you are doing the help save our Democracy and your incredible persistence & fortitude!

Good that you are not paralyzed but are engaged. I reached out to a neighbor I did not know who had displayed a Harris/Walz sign before the election. Perhaps, by your example, there is much more outreach I can do.

About 12 years ago, I was involved in a door-to-door campaign in my neighborhood. Out of about 100 people I talked to, I received only one or two slightly negative responses. The others were all positive and appreciative for information I was passing along. It was not political - just sustainable environment type content.

Now, it doesn't matter if there are Trumpists behind some of the doors. There are many who need to know that they are not alone and that there are local organizations they can join.

Thanks for what you are doing. :)

Thank you for your comment. I know a lot of my neighbors and passing out info seems like a good place to start - many are very concerned but don’t know what to do — and yes, letting them know they are not alone is really important. I’m also emphasizing June 14 as a major Day of Action — No Kings Day. I’m also trying to get a few people to stand on corners — Four Corners — on different intersections, a specific day & time - several groups. I have some volunteers. I am not a community organizer per se, but feel an extistential threat and am finding ways to connect with as may people as possible — and then hope for The Ripple Effect. :-) Thx again!

I am beside myself. With appreciation for the accurate and plentiful information in this article. With amazement that we have stories, wealthy news organizations but Jim Stewartson is the only one actually giving us the news. And with grief.

I do not know how you do it, Jim. Bring us these devastating, telling facts that show beyond a doubt that they are destroying all the good.

I started sobbing when I read about the machine guns. I think—know— that is an appropriate reaction.

What I want us to do is say NO in some huge way. NO we won’t buy anything: no, we won’t go to anything- NO WE WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS.

The first time I visited the U.S. was in 1988, found the country extremely dangerous and violent with a complete lack of infrastructure, proper food and healthcare. I was in West Virginia, I got bitten by 2 ticks. The family hosting me refused the request from my parents to see a physician and be put on antibiotics. My father had to send the preventative antibiotics by FedEx to avoid Lyme’s disease.

Silicon Valley has been the dominant industry for decades with weapon manufacturers. What is happening was almost meant to happen.

Thanks for your great articles.

Wow, one would think you visited a third world country.

I didn’t have the feeling to be in a third world country. I wouldn’t go that far. It was different with some aspects more advanced than France like air conditioning which was a sort of luxury for extremely wealthy people in France in the 80s. For instance, people don’t understand why temperatures above 28 degrees Celsius are unbearable in England and require to drink 3l of water. It’s because the house retains the heat with almost no night in May/June/July.

I was surprised by several things: the houses in wood, the size of the junk food and soda, the animals, bears and snakes. We went to Philadelphia, DC and NY. In Philadelphia, we were almost attacked by gang members. Moreover, the 80s were extremely peaceful in France. It’s one of less violent decade of all time in France. It has massively increased since then. When France started to become more and more violent, it was attributed as an exportation of the US violence by hip hop and rap. It’s more complex than that but it was the first explanation.
