Thanks again for your work Jim -- I continue to enjoy it and learn from it, gain understanding of what's happening. These "big guys" like Trump and Thiel, Miller and Vought want us scared, want us to think they can't be toppled but your work shows us what , who they really are and that gives one hope that they can be toppled one day. Thank you for your penetrating analyses, they're very helpful.

Jim, I just read Timothy Snyder’s excellent book, “Black Earth,” about the holocaust. In your words, Jim, and Snyder‘s principle thesis, the dissolution of the state allowed for the Nazis to inflict the insane and evil measures of the holocaust. The abhorrent efforts boiled out of of Hitler’s perception, that the concept of survival of the fittest applied to competition between races, as it is in ecological thesis between species, perceiving and propagandizing the falsity that all governmental failings were due to Jews, and “Liebenstrom” (more land for better living). As noted in his book Snyder reiterated over and over again that a major part of the Holocaust and it’s outcome was due to the dissolution of the eastern European governments, including Poland, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Ukraine. Stalin was a sinister element of this attitude that resulted in killing and sending people to the Gulag. This dissolution created stateless people and removed their protections normally available through organized governments. Besides Jews, significant numbers of other citizens also were killed. The reason for the severe toll of murder during the holocaust was the creation of stateless people in eastern Europe. The effect in the western part of Europe, where civil societies continued, albeit in compromised forms, was extremely tragic but less murderous. Dissolution of the state is the pathway to extreme danger to society. This playbook has been used before and Peter Thiel is seriously degenerate to speak of such terms in this day and age.

That's their playbook, but there seem to be two factions working toward a similar outcome: one incompetent, amoral, and about to implode; the other controlling vast amounts of wealth and technology and waiting in the wings to take over the reins of power. I fear the latter.

Bring on the arborists. Our tree is diseased and under attack from hostile parasites, that won't relent until we topple into the dirt. As we are discovering with each new revelation, freedom's assailants are as numerous as a swarm of locusts, devouring everything in their path.

Only when we defeat this plague of political pariahs will democracy burst back into full magnificent bloom.

I agree . It should be required reading. And go from there.

Is there a Zoom tomorrow?

I didn’t see the invite.

YES, this: "We need to be like a tree. Cut off a limb and we should grow two new ones, not try to reconstruct what’s already gone."

I've said this before; I'll repeat it: Jim's work should be required reading for every person struggling to understand how to respond to the contemporary chaos machine. You can't beat it if you don't know it.
