Look, this is objectively fantastic news.
This investigation was obviously going on, so it’s not exactly new news, but we now know they are getting Trump’s aides’ phone records, including Mark Meadows’ — so we will know for sure who Meadows was talking to in his limo after Trump told Meadows to talk to both Roger Stone and Mike Flynn on January 5th.
I will note as well that this news comes a week after the January 6th Committee finished an 8-episode demolishment of Donald Trump. So in many ways, we seem to be largely on track for a very interesting summer after all. 🤓
However, I am concerned that while some of the political objectives are being met by taking Trump off the board, this has been planned by both sides for a long time. Flynn and his ally Ron DeSantis have been separating from Trump ever since the insurrection failed. To them, Donald Trump will be far more useful as a scapegoat and martyr than a cult leader. Both have their own … ambitions.
We must make sure the DOJ does not stop with Trump.
The January 6th Committee is supposed to come back in September. That gives us a month to make sure they know every last person who helped Trump and Russia steal the election in 2016, and tried to do it again in 2020.
Otherwise these same people are going to attack again this November — and this time they will succeed in burning the elections — and our democracy — to the ground.

Agreed, Jim. It's pretty clear from Murdoch's publications that they're cutting DFG loose and moving on to DeSantis. They want the GQP to survive this. Don't let them, people.
We need to be very aware of plans to use "constitutional sheriffs" to protect or act as right-wing thugs intimidating voters and poll workers.
Kari Lake is saying they're already detecting fraud a mentioned how she hopes sheriffs are going to help.
It would be good if DOJ would issue a warning that they will not tolerate intimidation around polling.
