A drop of good news in a sea of terrible. Nonetheless, this is not a small thing. Subpoenaing the Minority Leader of the House is a BFD, as it should be. There are about 100 more House Members who knew exactly what was going to happen on 1/6. And quite a few Senators too.
I’m sure the screeching and legal maneuvering to block this subpoena will be epic. The question is: Will our milquetoast, feckless AG Merrick Garland prosecute them when they refuse to cooperate? I’m guessing he’ll be too worried about “norms” to do anything about it.
Biden's supreme mistake was appointing "milquetoast, feckless AG Merrick Garland" as head of what should be the most important position at this time of blatant open insurrection against democracy. We wouldn't want the Justice department to look like it's taking sides in a fight to overturn democracy as it might offend the fragile sensibilities of our "friends across the aisle" that will side with their old pal Biden if just given the chance in his uncomprehending failing geriatric brain that seems unable to process what has gone on in congress since the Tea Party. As these traitors give the commission the finger and continue to demonstrate to their deplorable followers that laws and rules do not pertain to those who remain loyal to the GQP and god's chosen savior of Murika lying Donald Trump expect the validity of the 1/6 commission to go the way of the Mueller report to be forgotten as the message that the commission is not legitimate because Pelosi wouldn't let anti-democracy conspirators be on it, will be the message the voting public end up with in their malleable sad minds. The election will be all about the price of gas, destroying public education for the benefit of for profit religiously owned private segregated schools, the Southern border and pushing the Christofascist agenda on women and LGBTQ rights that are not covered in our Jesus written constitution. The fact that the GQP wants to raise taxes on the working class will be forgotten before these Oh so important to the right's social issues.
