First They Came For Kilmar Abrego Garcia: “Home Growns Are Next”
The Orwellian defense for death camps
In one of the most Orwellian spectacles seen since Idi Amin, two vicious dictators sat in the White House today and blamed each other for not releasing Maryland father Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who has never been convicted or even accused of a crime, from a slave labor camp in a foreign dictatorship.
They played a series of games and bounced the blame around, giving various members of Trump’s Cabinet a chance to show their complete disregard for the law, for the Constitution, and for multiple Court Orders including a 9-0 decision from SCOTUS.
But the true goal of the meeting could be overheard in Bukele’s stream before things got started, on a hot mic. [h/t @atrupar for the find]
“Home grown criminals. Home growns are next. You gotta build about five more places. It’s not big enough.”
It has been clear from the start that the prison camp in El Salvador is not just meant to be a concentration camp for immigrants. It is designed to be a black site that Trump sends people who never come back — Hitler’s Night and Fog reanimated.
But this was a blatant refusal by either president to acknowledge what Trump’s own Justice Department said, that, as just one example, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is not a criminal and that he was picked up accidentally by ICE. When asked by a sheepish press, Bukele said he would never “smuggle in a terrorist.” Trump, on the other hand, said he wouldn’t make the request because of El Salvador’s “sovereignty.” It was not even an attempt at lying, exactly. It was just blatant refusal to acknowledge reality.
So. to review, a law-abiding father who left El Salvador 14 years ago to escape gang violence as a teenager — and who was in America legally — is sent to a concentration camp, while Enrique Tarrio, who was serving 20 years in prison for trying to murder politicians on J6, is free to threaten people in a Skull Nazi mask.

As I wrote before the Inauguration, we are a Niemöller Nation now. First they came for Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Then they came for “home growns.” Then they came for you.
We need to know what happened to Kilmar Abrego Garcia. We need to know if he’s still alive or whether we are already seeing the first death camp in action.
Say his name. Or die regretting you didn’t. This is not a drill.
Niemöller Nation
Pastor Martin Niemöller was complicated. An antisemitic supporter of Hitler through the Nazi takeover of Germany, he believed that Hitler would make Germany great again, and blamed immigrants, Jews, and the weakness of the government on Weimar’s problems. Sound familiar?

You read my mind! Just thinking the same thing when I saw the video. Two sociopaths passing the buck and neither mentioned a mistake or Garcia's innocence. It's not just the two people who are innocent who need to be sent back. It was bad enough to have CIA with black ops sites but a President who is sending people to a concentration camp in another country without due process! Looks like the two dictators are just going to ignore the innocent. If they caught them, they are guilty. All of them, every single one, need to be sent back to the US.
And, more infuriating, Americans who think this is OK. I get that the guilty ones are really bad guys who did terrible things. Our Constitution states we will have no cruel or unusual punishment. Trump is shitting on the Constitution again.
CeCot is defacto cruel and unusual. There is not even any darkness allowed for sleep. Lights are on 24/7. 2 "toilets" for 70 or more men. One large basin of water for cleaning themselves. Sleeping on metal beds. No visitors ever so their family members are also punished. These men are walking dead. They are not prisoners. They are being tortured 24/7. Anyone who thinks this is OK is just a sadistic MFr.
Bukele is some piece of work. Have you seen the collar on the shirt he sometimes wears with a sword on either side of an eagle? He always appears so cool, so calm, so quiet and unassuming and he smiles so much, but those eyes are dead. Well, now we know what he is actually doing behind closed doors.
The people who are in CeCot are living the worst possible 24/7 reality, and we have to get the ones that USA sent there back by exercising our First Amendment right to protest loudly and continuously. This is NOT OK.
Thank you for this. I feel so helpless. I will be at the next protest with Kilmar Abrego Garcia's name on my sign but it feels futile. What else can we do?
I am equal parts infuriated, scared and grieving for humanity.
