In Rachel Maddow’s incredible podcast Ultra about Nazi infiltration into America during the 30s and 40s, she focuses in part on the Silver Shirts which were a christofascist paramilitary group that agreed with Hitler’s policies and wanted them in the U.S.
In order to bring about this fascist state, the Silver Shirts, led by William Dudley Pelley, were prepared to launch coordinated terrorist attacks to destabilize and overthrow the government. They appropriated the slogan “America First” which was first used by the KKK in the early 20th century.
Around the same time that Pelley’s Silver Shirts were forming, a pair of frauds, Guy and Edna Ballard, cooked up a new religion based on Russian emigre Helena Blavatsky’s pseudo-religious hoax she dubbed theosophy — which metastasized into numerous movements, including the Third Reich via a variation called ariosophy.
The movement the Ballards invented — “The I AM Activity” or “The Mighty I AM” — was based on theosophy, but they added a number of components that weaponized it to create an authoritarian christofascist cult. The model they followed, literally copied, was the Silver Shirts, led by Nazi William Dudley Pelley.
In 1940, a book was written about the Ballards’ cult appropriately called Psychic Dictatorship in America (PDF). Here is the publisher’s note just as the leaders of the “I AM Activity” were being indicted for mail fraud and conspiracy.
The book spends a considerable amount of time proving that the “I AM” cult paralleled in detail what the Silver Shirts were doing and actually poached many of their cult members from disenchanted Silver Shirts.
While the Ballards did not include overt antisemitism in their cult, they modeled everything else on the Silver Shirts, who wanted to enact Hitler’s policies.
This brings back into focus the resurgence of this movement today. Mike Flynn appears to be intentionally pushing it to his audience at Mar-a-lago this last weekend. Here’s Flynn in a George Washington outfit with paintings and flags around him. He’s pushing a new Pizzagate child trafficking psyop.
Here are Edna and Guy Ballard, founders of the I AM movement. Guy Ballard presented himself as the literal reincarnation of George Washington.
Here’s Edna, after Guy died in the 30s, with her husband and “St. Germain” the “Ascended Master” they worship on the wall.
Here’s Elizabeth Clare Prophet from the “I AM” cult Church Universal and Triumphant (CUT) with a similar setup in the 1980s, although she replaced Guy Ballard with Jesus.
And, ICYMI, here’s Mike Flynn reciting an “I AM” prayer to a Christian church. He intentionally replaced “I AM” with “we will.”
Flynn is also pushing the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) which is a prophetic pseudo-religion intended to radicalize cells of anti-government christofascist cults.
Here’s Julie Green, one of Flynn’s favorite NAR prophets, with an “I AM” tablet behind her.
This weaponization of religion is as old as religion itself. Authoritarians see it as a mental soft spot to target and redirect towards themselves. That what Hitler did, what William Dudley Pelley did, what the Ballards did, and what Mike Flynn is doing today.
As I recently wrote, there is nothing new about these Nazis. Our mission is simple. We must form up and defeat them. Again. 🇺🇸🏴☠️

The concept of I am is so much older than Hitler's bastardization and hatred of matriarchal lineage. But it was great to see that you were able to find Flynn using it like most other misogynist throughout millennium.
This quote might be useful.
Deuteronomy 18:20-22
20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. 21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
