Get a Grip

It’s time to start fighting the war on the battlefield that exists.

Strange, unsettling times, to be sure. Like many Americans watching the debate, I was alarmed by the President’s shaky voice, his lack of energy, and the passive way he dealt with Donald Trump. It got better, but it was legitimately a terrible night for him.

The best explanation for it I can gather is that he had a cold, and he was overprepared with too much policy data and not enough on the message he needed to deliver — which was that he was ready for a second term, and his age is not really a problem.

His campaign messed up in a number of ways — they need corrections, stat. And I think it’s legitimate to ask questions about Biden’s performance. However, the rabid, bloodthirsty reaction by people on all sides of the political spectrum, and the way Democrats and pundits were ready to cast him aside were alarming.

The New York Times, which I have subscribed to for a very long time, completed its trip down Vichy Lane and called for Biden to step out of the race. So I canceled my subscription.

I’ve been recording a few videos recently, so I posted this the morning after the debate. The urge of Democrats, liberals, and the press to form a circular firing squad after any setback is our greatest weakness.

Get a grip. Shake it off. Pick your cliche. This is not an election between two men. It’s democracy or fascism. It’s a theocratic autocracy or a constitutional republic. It’s whether our children and grandchildren will be free.

A few hours after posting this video, Joe Biden did a campaign stop and looked great. Energetic, clear, in command.

We’re in a psychological war for our freedom. We’d better start fighting it. I can’t tell anyone what to do, but we know how this works, where it happens, and who is doing it. We need to form up and get to work pushing back. If we don’t, we will lose the war for good.
