Thanks for this. It really ties a lot together. It used to mystify me why left wing “anti-disinformation” activists so wholeheartedly embraced a guy who has never denounced his gamergate past or expressed regret for the fungal rot he fostered on 8chan (I’ve heard him complain about the consequences to himself but not apologize). It makes more sense to conceptualize them as part of a broader trolling cult. In fact, most of their Q stuff is just lightweight lol cow mocking. Not quite kiwi farms, but it often feels that it’s more about the lulz for many of them than any actual activism. There’s also some overlap with other recipients of obscene harassment like @devincow.
It wasn’t rambly, it was really good! I think I understand Gamergate better, anyway. // Andrea Chalupa was on yesterday’s Kremlinfile, I think we all need to watch her movie Mr Jones…
