Gullible Old Bigot Syndrome: Putin’s Secret Weapon
Mike Flynn, Kalergi Plan and the contagion of white male stupidity
We have a serious problem with old white men who don’t have the ability to determine truth from fiction.
While I realize this is not exactly new information, we normally think of the problem of propaganda as a consumer phenomenon. It is worse than that, however. It goes all the way to the top. I think we need to recognize this deep-seated issue, identify the root causes, and take steps to eliminate it as a threat. I’m going to call it Gullible Old Bigot Syndrome or GOBS.
As an example of GOBS in action, two years ago, Mike Flynn sued me for defamation in an egregious effort to silence me for accurately reporting on his role in election interference, covert psychological operations against American citizens, and instigation of a violent insurrection. Most of the statements he claimed to be damaged by have been dismissed, like calling him “a leader of QAnon” and a “Kremlin asset,” but one of the few remaining statements to be adjudicated is that I called him a “Nazi.”
Last night, Flynn replied “PRAY 🙏” to the dedicated QAnon account “Rogue_Outlaw17” / “SSG_PAIN ⭐️⭐️⭐️”. Note the “17” in the account name (for the letter “Q”) and the three stars representing the stars Flynn still wears as a retired Lt. General on a $200,000+ pension.
“The question is,,, how to end this evil that is embedded throughout this country in every form of govt?
#ElSalvadorModel”
As evidence for the “evil… in every form of govt” the QAnon account cites the “Kalergi Plan,” including this false quote:
“We intend to turn Europe and North America into a mixed mongrel race of Asians and Negros ruled over by Jews
Jewish EU ‘founding father’
Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi”
Just to start on the surface, Mike Flynn, who is currently on the Visitors Board of West Point, which determines the curriculum for the top echelon of military students in America, “prays” that “a mixed mongrel race” in Europe and North America won’t be “ruled over by Jews.” In a normal world we would stop right there and start a trial to strip him of his rank and pension. Flynn clearly has Stage IV GOBS and needs immediate intervention.
But what is the “Kalergi Plan” being referenced, anyway? Well, a five second google gets you the answer:
The Kalergi Plan, sometimes called the Coudenhove-Kalergi Conspiracy, is a debunked far-right, antisemitic, white genocide conspiracy theory. The theory claims that Austrian-Japanese politician Richard von Coudenhove-Kalergi, creator of the Paneuropean Union, concocted a plot to mix and replace white Europeans with other races via immigration. The conspiracy theory is most often associated with European groups and parties, but it has also spread to North American politics.
Memes promoting the conspiracy theory often incorporate misrepresentations of Kalergi's writings; such as the false claim he stated that Jews shall rule over Europe.
This is the actual quote by Coudenhove-Kalergi from 1925:
“The man of the future will be of mixed race. Today's races and classes will gradually disappear owing to the vanishing of space, time, and prejudice. The Eurasian-Negroid race of the future, similar in its appearance to the Ancient Egyptians, will replace the diversity of peoples with a diversity of individuals.”
This one statement was turned into a white genocide conspiracy theory by Austrian neo-Nazi Gerd Honsik, who went to prison for propagating Holocaust denial. None of the “11-point plan” exists outside of memes and white supremacists.
At the same time Flynn is pushing this literal Nazi conspiracy theory, he continues screaming at the clouds that Donald Trump must “absolutely NOT!” under any circumstances, help our ally Ukraine combat Russian aggression. He is so adamant on this point that he went after, of all people, Newt Gingrich, who I agree with for the first time in my life.
“Putin’s deliberate use of violence against civilian targets for three straight days requires a response. American military aid to Ukraine should be dramatically increased”
Flynn responds:
“Zelenskyy is a total crook.”
It is a perpetual problem in investigating people like Flynn to determine what he actually believes versus what he says. Does he really believe Zelenskyy is a “crook”? I think the short answer is yes. He has been convinced that Vladimir Putin and Russia are a better alternative than a “mixed mongrel race” in America “ruled over by Jews.” He thinks an alliance with Putin will put down Islam and make America white again.
Of course, it would be one thing if it were just “fringe” figures like Mike Flynn who believe Nazi and Russian propaganda and exhibit severe symptoms of GOBS. But here is Donald Trump, who seems genuinely perplexed by Putin’s refusal to throw him a bone, admitting to what in the old days would have been called “Russian collusion.” This graphic was posted to the official White House Twitter account.
“if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD.”
Like Flynn, Trump is a divided man. On one hand, Trump has truly believed since the 1980s that Russia and Putin are his forever-friends. He was brainwashed to ascribe to anti-American ideas like imposing aggressive tariffs on allies and getting out of NATO a long time ago.
On the other hand, Trump knows Putin has everything he needs to destroy his presidency. The last three elections were interfered with by the Russians. All Putin has to do is tell the truth about how he helped and what Trump knew and when. It’s also not unlikely that Putin has all the information that Kash Patel, Pam Bondi and Dan Bongino won’t tell us about what’s in the “Epstein Files.”
Gullible Old Bigot Syndrome does not just affect the person who suffers from it, GOBS is also contagious. The more people with GOBS that get together, the more they start to agree with each other, the more it spreads outwards, and the more people like Putin can take advantage of them.
All is not lost, however. GOBS, in many cases, can be reversed. ICYMI, here is a film from a decade ago by my friend Jen Senko. While I have no hope for GOBS superspreaders like Flynn and Trump, for the rest of us, there is still a light at the end of the tunnel.

I remember back when the Ukraine war began, they were actually trying to tell people that Zelensky was a Jewish Nazi. They can make up crap faster than anybody can debunk it. Like phisher-men chumming the water with bait to see what the GOBS will bite.
I find myself enjoying your articles. But the only thing so far that gets in the way of my mind is the fact my career was as an advertising artist and production. Typos smack through my head like a bullet, probably because you could lose your job for letting them get through to the public. So, you need a proofreader. They really are worth it. Just saying..
