An idea I've seen elsewhere on Substack: we need a clear and easy 'handle' that we call them and simultaneously call out their 'psychological warfare being used in a class war/assault'. A unified identifier...

Economic theory models human behavior as if individuals behaved like the selfish personalities described in your essay. Perhaps policies based on these models induce individuals to act increasingly self-oriented even if they are not, by nature, psychopaths. Many of the indigenous societies that were destroyed and colonized by Europeans were more oriented to kindness, generosity, and respect for nature. It made them easy targets for genocide, slavery, and manipulation. So here we are. Perhaps we need to focus on building a global civilization based on empathy. I like to think big.

I am too old and the wrong gender for the time to be a gamer. My desire to take on the world lay in a different direction.

People with the personality traits of Trump, Elon, Vance, Johnson were known among the people (mostly men) that I was among for years. They were not respected.

Honor still matters.

Honor means putting others over self - even for someone who has the dark triad traits. History - not games - but Real History - is full of men and women (mostly men) who laid their lives down - or risked their lives for others.

Heroes come from the Light

They never come the Dark side

Jim - you say you are are an atheist but you came to the basic conclusion that people who have saved the earth time after time realized

“Treat others as you want to be treated”

The Golden Rule

Is the only way to live - the only way to persevere peace in a world with such lethal weapons. In a world on the precipice of such advancement.

Jim, I’m wondering if these sick individuals you describe have more than one sick idea going through their minds and that these ideas need not be consistent or compatible with each other. Is the chaos we’re experiencing in part a reflection of chaos inside these sick people’s disordered minds?

The depravity of mankind is intensified during times of war. Those who survive are psychologically wounded for the rest of their lives even if they manage to escape without physical injury. Hurting people hurt people.

Hitler, for example, was a victim of WWI. His trauma played a role in his own eventual psychosis. Hitler said there was a "pig-dog" in every man. Goebbels amplified that concept and appealed to that part of the human psyche.

The US is still fighting WW2. The war never ended. OSS turned into CIA. Military spending continued to increase and began to fight a perpetual war which has ruined the American economy. US had half the wealth in the world after end of war. Now? $36 trillion in debt.

We've been immersed in a propaganda war for a very long time.

It's very depressing but it's possible that more people will become aware of the degree to which they are being manipulated and demand a stop to it. Perhaps, we can end war (conflict, conflict, conflict) and cooperate and collaborate. It was JFK's vision for a new world. He was killed by the men with the psychology you described in your article. It's the task of humanity to make this dream come true.
