Well, I think Jim is correct, it is because Hog'sbreath and other Christofascists like him see Putin as a Christian nationalist ally. Whereas Zelensky is a jew (perhaps not irrelevant to them) With his Jerusalem cross tattoo he has already signalled his identity as a "crusader", a "christian" soldier, in a sense, dedicated to recreating "Christendom," some sort of analog of the Holy Roman Empire, OR perhaps more dangerously and insanely to bring on the "End Times" to summon the second coming of Christ and the establishment of God's Kingdom on earth.
Whether or not that really nails what propels Hog'sbreath's fevered imagination, he's undoubtedly an extraordinarily dangerous person to be second in command of the world's most deadly military machine. I can only hope there are still enough general officers who will be unwilling to follow blatantly illegal and/or unconstitutional orders to represent a real obstacle to their (Trump and Hegseth's) mad plans, whatever they are.
