I am a paid subscriber. I have been reading you for awhile. Since 2020 at least. I hope things are OK for you. I should really make time to join a call. I am painfully socially a panic attack, lol. But wanted to say this is A YEAR OF FREEDOM. I am bound to say something genuine and kind to a stranger every day. In person, if I am out, online if I am watching dad all day. Thank you Jim, for being your authentic brilliant quirky self. You truly remind me of my late bro, George Ide, Jr. He was my hero and my bestie.
You nailed it, Jim. The quid pro quo between Putin and Trump has been simmering for a while. Just as Putin can no longer project power in the Middle East(Syria and Iran), he has little interest in Venezuela or their heavy oil. Putin wants Ukraine and Eastern Europe, and Trump is doing everything in his power to abet the destruction of liberal democracy. It's disgusting. Next on the agenda is to get the cheap oil flowing to the heavy oil refineries in Louisiana(easier said than done) and to lower the price of transportation fuel throughout the US. That's the short game for the Trump dynasty and his brand of economic populism. The sad thing is, it might well work. SMH
I thought that I was becoming a conspiracy nut when I saw Trump's face after his private ride with Putin in Alaska — he looked beaten, and terrified at what he was about to do. The next day, he set the Venezuelan plan into motion. He moved the military into Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Putin had laid down the law to Trump. He told Trump to leave Ukraine and Europe to him, and he would give Venezuela to Trump. That's what I thought then, and here we are today.
There is one problem for Trump, Maduro isn't the real power in Venezuela, to those remaining in Venezuela, Chavez is a demigod, they worship him and the power lies with the Chavezista's.
Venezuela is a perfect country for assymetic warfare, and Trump has just mired us in our own Vietnam, if he deploys the Marines into Venezuela.
I've been saying the same thing. Jungle war in a place that seriously favors the defender, a hostile civilian population, where the defenders know every inch of the land. Why does this sound so familiar? 🤦♂️
The continual fire hose of shit is now a dam breaking wide open. Get used to it, peeps. I hope beyond hope that our military will stop obeying illegal orders and do what we need them to do…
Remember how trump recently pardoned convicted drug kingpin Honduran president Juan Hernandez? No mention of paying for the pardon either. Venezuelan president Madurp was his biggest competitor. Trump is doing a hostile takeover of the drug cartels. Now does everyone see how that pardon will be paid for?
Once the public and other nations of the free world get wind of the quid pro quo in play between Trump and Putin—Putin allows Trump to conquer Venezuela while Trump allows Putin to takeover Ukraine, the narrative is crystallized that these despotic regimes are lead by a god-awful bunch of traitors. I expect there will be a total coalescing of nations against the two repugnant deme gods.
The oil that they have in heavy oil. this oil is for factories. There are only 2 refineries that process this type of oil. Its not the kind you put in your car.
The US has massive refining capacity for heavy oil in Louisiana, strategically built between Alberta and Venezuela, anticipating that it would eventually have access to it all. That day is coming closer.
In line with this, Trump uttered something else during the presser that commentators haven't picked up. After the second time Trump talked about the oil companies needing to spend billions to upgrade the Venezuelan oil infrastructure, he said quietly (almost offhandly) that the oil companies would be reimbursed for the billions they will spend. Another payoff to his funders, this time from government (our) funds, and reduces their risk to zero.
Is the Southern District of New York able to refuse trying Maduro on these false charges? The whole thing is quickly going to turn into a cluster—fuck.
Mamdani is being attacked by the Trump administration right out of the gate
In the end, climate change will be the great equalizer. Just sayin'.

That comment from Fiona Hill about the Trump/ Putin swap of Ukraine and Venezuela is CHILLING.
We are in a new age. We need leaders and stories. I feel awed but not defeated.

It's more suited for bunker oil (ships) and such.

I heard the DOJ already secured a Grand Jury indictment against Maduro in the SDNY. Trump appointed DA.
Jury can go with facts and they could not convict again
