Fuedalism and a possible return to the Dark Ages are how I also described this in my writing. The "serfs" were kept in their place, in part by the denial of knowledge. The Internet has made it it possible to deny knowledge once again, but this time by flooding the world with disinformation on a scale never before possible before the days of the internet and social media. The disinformation is of volume and scale to drown out the truth. Truth is becoming increasingly hard to find and that is intentional.

To battle against this, spread the truth as far and wide as possible.

I am also an atheist after spending a good portion of my life recovering from Roman Catholicism, but I still remember stuff. For example, the Trinity of Evil, spoken of in the Book of Revelation.

The Beast from the Sea (Donald Trump): A symbol of false religion, with ten horns, seven heads, and the body of a leopard with the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion

The Beast from the Land (Elon Musk): A symbol of false religion, described as a lamb that speaks like a dragon

The Dragon (Peter Thiel): The source of evil that energizes the Beast

YMMV, of course, but I have believed for quite a while that if there is such a thing as an Antichrist, that person is Trump. One never fully recovers from the indoctrination of religion as there are always some remnants left behind. Seeing "The Exorcist" when I was 15 scared the absolute SHIT out of me on a religious level, and I've never been able to bring myself to watch it again some 50 years later. That's the kind of stuff I mean. Antichrist legends don't scare me (LOVE "The Omen" movies!), but they are a good way to describe truly evil people, and one doesn't have to be religious to believe in evil, that's for sure. Unfortunately, the most evil people also seem to have the most money -- I'm SURE there's no correlation! LOL
