Great thoughts today, Jim. I think the problem going forward is the corporate media with its control over the Internet and the dangerous algorithms that funnel propaganda to the masses now addicted to their phones and computers that have such control over the people's minds it would make George Orwell shocked at how quickly the mind police were able to take over the culture. We used to have magazines and newspapers to pick up all with different views and info. Now we have a centralized cesspool of lies and propaganda that are sent directly to the people to cause fear and chaos so that the billionaire set can become the lords over the new serf/slave class that was the middle class. I wish I could see a way out but I fear we've been done in by the internet and corporate control of information.

I was listening to an old Terrance McKenna speech and he suggested that we do not need culture could this be true. Could it be culture is the thing that causing problems. Maybe there should be more emphases on individuals.

Elon Musk told some racist in Germany that multiculturalism is destroying the USA. One culture is insane idea yet Maybe there is a way to go beyond culture and and just be individuals.

Jim, I so admire your writings and overall work. Your philosophy is brilliant. However, while militancy must unfortunately continue to accelerate as a response to the brutal attacks on our human and economic rights, the idea of being willing to die for our country implies that a form of civil war is over the horizon. Our intellectual and fiscal power are formidable weapons. Let's use them to the fullest. We unquestionably need a show of force. I pray we don't soon reach the brink of armed conflict as our last hope.

Agreed. War is always the last resort. And obviously I don’t want violence. My work is all about preventing harm. But when the enemy presents the option of either succumbing to genocide or going to war, a moral choice has to be made at some point. I’ve been watching this long enough that it’s hard to see how to get out of this without something happening far outside the box.

"We need a new liberalism" begins the vital part of this wholly truthy essay. But it's vital due to an oversight in your earlier point: "The key flaw in liberalism .... is that it takes for granted that all humans believe in individual rights by definition." Your oversight: The wreckers of the promise of democracy do believe that they believe in human rights. But like the Nazis who exterminated millions, rightist magas don't see everyone as human.

Jim, I could have written every damn word. Luckily, I don't have to. You're a much better writer. Thank you for this masterpiece. May it spread 'liberally'.
