Thank you for posting the Guardian article on this very important, landmark study, and for your insightful discussion of this pernicious problem we face. You're so right, we must figure our how to defeat this, before it defeats us. Your substack article on 'know, name disrupt' is a great place to start! Keep shining a light on the truth. Much gratitude.

I was falling apart a couple of years ago. I live in a purple state, and I have always supported Biden. His decline and the party’s betrayal of him and its bungling of a convention or mounting a real campaign for Harris (or anyone really) had left me with little to argue with except my gut knowing that Trump would destroy us. I went to see my priest who asked me to stay off social media forty days (it was Lent). I did. The difference in my mental outlook was astonishing. Everything you said is true. How do we get anyone to believe us…without using social media?

I was waiting for a space to share this:

I emailed my youngest brother, 70 yrs, a skilled musician, a successful computer engineer, what he is learning about the markets and the world from The Wall Street Journal

That is the only newspaper he subscribes to.

His response was:

“It looks like Hammas may become a thing of the past - and Hezbollah got decimated by the cell phone plants by the Mossad last year (brilliant!) ... terrorist regimes being held in check. Maybe even peace in the middle east. Good things.”

The cell phone plants were: BRILLIANT???!!

How can anyone say such a thing w/ a straight face...or mind. or heart.

One thing it shows is he's out of touch with facts. WAY out of touch. Peace in the Middle East??? Experts fear Israel will go nuclear....that it is likely. Doesn't sound like peace to me.

He's right where the neo-cons, AIPAC, etc.s want him to be.

I know I told him not long after that Oct7th event that Hammas was NOT the bad guy. That I was on the sid eof Hezbollah and the Yemmini resisters. Guess it didn't make a dent.

I wrote a response to him but did not send it. It was satiric, agreeing about the cleverness of the slaughter, etc....How the Holocaust Memorials are an obvious joke, since the Israels love that stuff and have exceeded it.....

Today, I think all I want to know (but, am afraid of the answer) Do his buddies agree with that?

It's too late to re-educate him. He has always been stubborn...that is how succeeded in the music and the computer fields. Tough little German who is not unlike a Nazi.

You could be talking about my brother-in-law. We were never woke. We let this fly by right under our noses. We were “tolerant” of other opinions.

We have one Trumper on my X's side....very hard to deal with and some of his siblings have cut him off.

I had NO idea a brother of mine could say say shit like that.

I'm still dumfounded.

I don’t know how it is that I can resist all this bullshit but it is not a problem for me. I just don’t know how to get other people to see what I know to be true. How is it that people are so foolish as to believe low IQ people like Laura Loomer, Kevin Sorbo and Elon Musk?? People must think that they know something I don’t but I do know I will never follow someone who gives themselves up to a wanna-be king or a Nazi!!!!!!

My dad was a psychiatrist. Kids were afraid to come to my house as they were scared they’d be psychoanalyzed. People are afraid of being crazy. Fetterman is our poster child to just ignore it. He fell on his face. Doesn’t know how ill he is and should be removed. He can’t be making judgement calls for others. Unless and until people will sit still for a real talk and understanding about mental illness this is how it will unfold. Follow the leader is not politics either. Remove the affliction and things will get better faster than you might project. Everything you say is spot on.

Yes to all of this. When and if dems ever "take control," they must tackle Fox "News" and all th rest and destroy their ability to continuously pump lies into the populace. As you say, the problem is not political, it is psychological.

Oh, sure. Fox has the largest viewership of any other mass media. Try to shut that down.

I think the population of the USA will go along to get along with their shopping, sports, Netflix...consumption, debt.

it will be like a country under despotic leadership. I minority of informed creative independent thinkers who will have to skirt the laws and the information police....we are close to there already.

How long will we get away with these open subversive Substack conversations? Or, the many independent journalists and experts on youtube?

Myself: I have never done X....there's got to be a limit to the hours I consume "information". No FB.

I do notice that Israeli films are getting shoved in my face.....sympathy or love of fking Israelis. I did that 50-60years ago: all about the Nazi death camps....and the thousands years of history of pogroms.

Now, I have zero sympathy for the Jews. Holocaust Memorials should be closed. If THIS Holocaust is OK , then so was that one.

The one positive message I'm getting from reading your research is that, I really hate being manipulated. This is mean't to say ME personally but that the wider world should hate being manipulated. As they say in the AA circles, of which I am not included, "You can only save yourself." I've tried to get people over my many years on this planet to "think" first, "don't react!" Fortunately or visa versa they don't tend to do either. As a friend of mine used to say, "What can you do, when you live in a shoe", my reply was instant, "don't have kids!" Unfortunately again they breed and have children who SHOULD be smarter than their parents, but aren't because most parents of idiots tend to stifle critical thinking in their young at an early age. That's why America has a MAGA contingent! End of.

Don't have kids! I tell every young person that. Get dogs and or cats. They are much nicer people. You don't have to buy them designer sneakers, pay for the colleges, rehabs, weddings. grandchildren. Pets can be put down if the are very bad. You can't disappear at very bad human; you will get the authorities at your door.

Pets don't live so damned long that at 60 they are still being a dependent when you are 80.

Spending the most productive years of your life on a baby human that, odds are, may not want anything to do with you later: worst mistake you can make.

Judith hahaha. I’ve had two. One unwillingly I might add. I guess they’re okay if they give a damn about anyone but themselves these days. Even when your’e poor they don’t understand why they can’t have it all. Or maybe they are just more susceptible to marketing? I have owned pets for many years and they give me more pleasure than kids ever did, if truth be told lol. Or maybe that “motherly instinct” that passed me by, that says you are to devote your entire being to their happiness is the problem? Either way, I’m with you in this regard.

You can spread the truth. Like they do the lies. People don’t realize how powerful it is just to stand confidently in the truth. On the good side. So many folks are confused & with good reason so if they see someone who’s not confused & has empathy & also not angry- it’s huge. I stopped being angry at citizen maga. They are victims. Doesn’t mean we don’t hold nazis accountable but I will always point my finger to the top. Most everything is a symptom of the purposeful propaganda. 10 years of it. Unabated. It’s why I’m so grateful for the diagrams Jim provides. There are formulas. The maga I know are literal walking contradictions. 😵‍💫

Thanks for this Jenn, you are obviously leaps and bounds beyond my analyses. Jim is giving us information with context which I really appreciate. I'm one of the ancients that have been there, done that and thrown up on the T-shirt so maybe your belief that Maga is a victim too should be in the equation? I guess that my fear is, if you let them off the hook entirely they will take it as tacit agreement. Simple minds find simply solutions.

Jenn Griffin's avatar

Well I think we’re all victims & targets of mass propaganda. But some were just lucky to escape it. My maga coworkers will tell you that I don’t let them off the hook 😂. It’s about influencing them to want to know what you know. Like a product lol. Instead of blaming them for buying the competitors.

The one thing that sticks in my craw is, if the shoe was on the other foot would they be so generous? Some how I think not. Their hatred of other hides behind a crucifix. As long as they, and not I, believe in the god capitalism, I'll lose. No fair! Sob sob.

There are different levels of citizen maga. The walking contradictions for instance would give the shirt off their back to most anyone. There are also the super hateful ones. I think we gotta take ourselves out of the equation and think of what’s best for the country. Do what’s right no matter. They’re really like alcoholics. And billionaires want us all fighting.

I have never been on “X” or Twitter. I don’t have the patience for it or the proper reactionary skills to negotiate it.

I believe you are absolutely correct in your assessment of the situation.

That said, it’s time for those who value the freedom to choose their own future.

Those who are sick of the lawless hypocrites who suck all the wealth out of the country and leave crumbs for the rest of us to fight over.

For those who want the opportunity to have a family and a home and freedom of thought and movement.

It’s time to counter attack the algorithms of X and the other platforms that are working against us.

Whether it is done from the United States or Europe or Canada or elsewhere - blow up these assholes who are trying to destroy us!!
