It's a Sunday, and some chucklehead has decided to bestow ~24,000 newly-created fake followers on my account. All are accounts created in November 2022 with 0 tweets, a default profile image, or both. cc: @ZellaQuixote

Remi Barrette giving himself fake followers is precisely the same thing he did to Rebekah Jones when he got her banned from the platform a year and a half ago. He claimed she bought them, and yet here he is claiming someone bought followers for him. 🤔

@pissed_md Yup, all the stuff about "bots" influencing the poll is meaningless speculation. The Occam's Razor explanation for what happened is that the poll was initially seen mostly by right-wingers (since the big right-wing accounts like Musk) and leftists belatedly evened it out a bit.

LOL. Maybe he doesn’t have his console anymore. The idea that Remi is going to advise on a policy to “handle bans” is frankly hilarious. 😂

If this is a proposal for how to handle bans, I have thoughts: 1) Make it a clearly written policy (rather than the nonsense with the poll) 2) Put unsuspended users on probation for the first few months: any infraction = new ban 3) Fake account bans should still be permanent

I respect the fact that almost as many folks don’t want him back as do, but I am in favor of timed bans—just like our judicial system. If trump causes another riot or public safety issue I would double his previous ban (ie 18 months becomes 36), & then do that again if needed
