What strikes me about great thinkers is how well they understood and described human nature in personal context and how that relates to us through time. The C20th writers scare me the most, firstly for the insanity that war wrought in that century and our failure to learn from it. See for instance Einstein, Russel, Huxley and Orwell for example. The way out of this mess does seem other worldly with retrospective guidance but I'm not counting on that.
I know way too many people who have fallen for this fleecing. They believe absurdities and that they are being conspired against by forces that don't even exist. Now we have AI to distort what's left of reality. The critical thinkers among us have a lot of work ahead of us, and it's just a fact that some things cannot be undone. I hope we have not passed the point of no return, emphasis on the word hope.
