I agree with you on most of the Ten Commandments but 1 and that is the Honor thy father and thy mother. Presumably that means one’s earthy mother and father but there are millions of examples where parents are completely unworthy of such consideration . Including mine. My father was a psychopath and my mother had nothing. My mother was like talking to a window and had nothing to remove any of the toxicity of my father. I grew up in the Methodist church where from the time I was in elementary school they told us all to repent because we are sinners and were going to hell for our sins. But even at 7 years old I wondered what I had done to be such a sinner and therefore why should I go to hell. That was separate from the daily nastiness from my father.
