A society organized around capitalism puts important economic decisions in the hands of those who have it already or those who can get access to it. Capitalism, historically, is used to make profits and accrue even more capital just like the Monopoly game. Distributing capital is not what the wealthy are inclined to do as it decreases the basis of their power in society (Gates, Jobs, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Mafia Pay Pal, Musk, Thiel etc.). It is difficult for ordinary people to accumulate capital or, if they can, it may take decades. At that point, people are reluctant to "invest" in an alternative society that may result in loss rather than profit.

Good ideas about building parallel structures and coalitions require money, time and organization. The wealthy have money, time and power. That's why they have been able to build these current obstacles around us. The threat of being heavily taxed (as they were previously) has been enough for them to devise ways to try to permanently prevent it from ever happening again.

Where is the money and organization going to come from to support the adults in the room who want to see structural change in society? People who are fired or laid off don't often have financial resources to band together and support each other while trying to change society. How is profound change going to happen without access to capital?

The people (some of them) may have time but they don't have money and powerful organizations. Strikes can't take place for long periods of time until the owners make concessions because workers can only strike for so long before financial need makes it necessary to negotiate. Negotiated settlements do not change the power dynamics so the cycle repeats. In the meantime, who suffers the most?

The people have been demanding change for decades. Political promises have been made. They have not been fulfilled.

How do we get parallel structures and coalitions? Even non-profits guard their "territory".

How do the people find ways to support those individuals and groups who do want to make positive changes but need financial assistance in order to do so?

We can't just say someone else should do it; although, I wish fervently that people with money and other resources would do it. Journalists per se don't have the financial wealth to create networks and asking venture capital to do so may not elicit funding if the potential funders know they want to build alternative models.

What we are "fighting" about is who has power and who makes the decisions in society. Many of us once thought we lived in a political society where representatives would or could represent us, but politicians are for sale because they have to fund their own elections. Not only is capital in the hands of the few but so, also, is the decision-making. Were the wealthy really going to limit themselves to just one vote? Were those with a political goal (abortion) based on religion going to limit themselves to just one vote each? Special interests have long sought ways to influence voters, but corporate news and information technology have discarded the standards of fact and truth. The oligarchs have found ways to game the system in their favor, and we are stuck until we find out HOW we are going to facilitate change.

Roosevelt was able to enforce radical change only after the Great Depression of 1929. We may not have another Roosevelt.

If it's up to us, then we still have to figure out how.

If we need a new structural framework, who is going to build it and how will it be built?

One of the ways that the current administration achieved its One One of the ways that the current administration achieved its objectives was by harnessing the power of disparate groups with complementary goals and shared interests. That strategy could also be used within the framework you laid out.

I suspect that some of the actions you used as examples are already being done at various scales, but generally by smaller, disconnected groups operating more or less independently from each other. If they were connected, we might find that many of these groups want the same thing but for different reasons. Our best (only?) chance of succeeding might be to unite as many of these groups as possible and form our own "coalition of the willing" to push back against authoritarianism.

The video of Gabbard is unacceptable and inconceivable on any other platform than X. It was analysed as being a threat against China by some British legacy media while she was labelled as having no ethics whatsoever in France. It’s not her job to produce apocalyptic movies and attempt to scare people.

This is the ONLY way to effectively oppose the destruction of our Republic. These lunatics had a shadow government throughout the Biden administration. It's past time to adopt MAGA's organization tactics and use it to rebuild the Republic.

Those are the adults - toxic, abusive, psychopathic Shadow-egregores.

We're in a national and cultural trauma-bond with both abusive parents - toxic mommy dearest in the DNC and violent abusive daddy dearest in the GOP.

We need to go no contact with both parents and stick them in Shady Pines where they can be medicated.
