The only reason I can come up with is that Walz is attempting to not let us be the start of a civil war. If the Guard starts protecting us, that means there is going to be real fighting, which may escalate beyond the point of no return. However, I had read somewhere that after so many days the feds can take back control--need to verify though if that is true. We are at a flash point, and I'm not sure there is a way out that doesn't involve a lot more bloodshed
Tim Walz is urging the citizens to remain peaceful, for doing so every action by ICE can be easily shown to be a) unconstitutional, b) illegal, and c) immoral. Eventually, every ICE goon is going to go on trial for his/her actions. When the trials start, ICE won't have any defense. They are all going to end up incarcerated.
