Maybe not the time for this, but the place is OK, but Obama was a big disappointment to me as he seemed to slide easily into the pockets of the Big Banks. Honest to God, I don't know if I were in his shoes if I'd have had the guts to stare them down as the country teetered on the brink of Great Depression 2.0. I probably wouldn't. And the blame ultimately goes to Bill Clinton, Greenspan and Republican lawmakers (though too many Dems followed Clinton's lead too) who repealed Glass/Steagall, allowing the commercial banks to merge with savings banks and become "too big to fail." Special mention to Reagan, of course, who set the course of corporatism that Clinton followed. Obama was also too cozy with the MIC for my comfort. I just don't know if anybody can stand up to Wall Street and the MIC and survive politically in the US. IF Trump had honestly intended to drain the swamp, i.e., root out the undue influence of those big money forces behind mainstream politics in the US, I'd be sympathetic to his cries of being attacked by the "deep state". However, I see no sign that he had any other intention than to fill the swamp with his own cronies. And that's the saddest aspect of waiting for the collapse of Trumpism, which, believe me, I will celebrate wildly, that is, we will just be back to where we were before, which was better in a lot of ways, but not where I really would want us to be.
