Unalienable Rights
The Founders were specific about three
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”
This is the entire purpose of the US Government — from the source. Now, it is crucial to acknowledge that this was not our land to begin with, it was stolen. Moreover, the only people covered by this lofty statement were white men. We were always flawed, but the Founders knew it.
They gave us a mechanism, over 248 years, to move, in fits and starts, towards those unalienable rights being offered to more and more of us. We still have a long way to go, but we must not be so cynical that we can’t acknowledge the incredible progress that has been made.
However, with a month to go before the Trump regime, the question I have for the President and his administration in this is: If those rights, the very purpose of government, are being threatened, doesn’t he have an obligation to do something about it?
Let’s look at the three rights the Founders highlighted as “endowed by our Creator.”
“Life”
Trump is putting in anti-science Russian assets into key healthcare positions. RFK Jr. recently tried to revoke numerous vaccines, including polio. The CDC nominee is a propagandist who pushes the quack theory of “herd immunity.” This is an imminent, grave threat to everyone’s life — and could lead to millions of deaths.
Many more women will die because there will be no backstop to the misogyny of this regime.
On a personal level, I recently saw a disturbing death threat against my own life. I would like to call the FBI, but it’s about to be turned over to a Russian state media-endorsed QAnon promoter who already filed a lawsuit against me. Who’s going to protect me or anyone that speaks out?
How many people will the unqualified billionaire greedmonsters in Trump’s Cabinet kill through sheer force of incompetence and avarice? How many people will die from Elon Musk’s “DOGE” plan for “hardship” and “austerity”?
Our right to life is being actively threatened here. What’s being done about any of it?
“Liberty”
“Mass deportations” is a euphemism for concentration camps. It is logistically impossible and absurdly expensive to deport millions of people. It’s a lie. They have already started setting up the facilities and the vigilante army to help them carry out raids and detentions to round people up, put them in camps to exploit their labor and segregate them. And it will only get worse from there.
Trump has said he won’t distinguish between legal and illegal immigrants — and a chorus of his propagandists have promised to put journalists and anyone else who speaks out against the regime in prison as well. There is no reason not to believe they won’t do it.
The liberty of countless innocent people are being threatened, while Trump promises to let hundreds of criminal insurrectionists out of prison on Day One.
Why the silent treatment from the White House about this?
“Pursuit of Happiness”
The only people who will be happy at the end of this regime will be the billionaires who conspired to overthrow the government.
The financial system, the military, and the entire social safety net are at the whims of messianic oligarchs who think the most important thing is becoming the first trillionaires and getting to Mars. They have no empathy, emotion, or soul. They truly think they are above us. They have constructed an alternate reality where they can play god with humanity. Our “happiness” is the last thing on their minds.
Who will protect the right to the “pursuit of happiness” for LGBTQ+ people, especially trans people, who have been systematically demonized and scapegoated already—even before the entire federal government gets turned against them?
What I fail to understand about Joe Biden and his administration is the prioritizing of the optics of a “peaceful transfer of power” over defending American citizens from enemies, foreign and domestic, and from the destruction of the three most “unalienable rights” defined by the Founders as the entire reason for a Revolution.
There are a wide range of options for actions that could be taken to mitigate this scenario. Apparently, the option being chosen is “none.”
What a shame.

I wonder, will any of the maga women in congress wake up now that they have been summarily shut out of leadership roles. For the first time in two decades, no women will lead house committees. Of all the sycophants the mango Mussolini has nominated, not one is any of the Black men who stumped for him. Are they seeing the reality yet.
Your posts inspires me to observe and reflect that I feel gratitude for having exchanged with and read here and elsewhere so many good, intelligent, idealistic, caring, noble, varied people with purpose, who believe in the Constitution and the experiment we engaged in. Had it not been for this crisis many of us would not have had the opportunity to have met and appreciated each other, and democracy. All that energy should still focus on whar we expected and trusted in, persist trying to keep it, rebuild it, first in our minds, then somewhere, if not here in the Old USA. Keep writing, it is clarifying, focusing us back on the north star.
