Feeding into the “civil war” narrative helps them get it

People I deeply respect have said they disagree with this article. They are correctly concerned that this move by DOJ may lead to further radicalization and ultimately to violence. I agree! I have been screaming about the potential for violence for two years and correctly predicted the insurrection. But this raid is not going to be “the spark.”

It’s important to understand, violence is not what they ultimately seek. Violence is a means to an end, and the end goal is power. That’s why “The Insurrection Was Plan B.” Plan A was to do it through perverting the government. They wanted a bloodless coup and when that failed, then they went to violence.

By repeating the narrative that law enforcement action will lead to “civil war” we provide them with power.

In reality, all this does is help people who don’t want a liberal democracy anymore to advance their goals. Here’s “libertarian” cryptofascist Andrew Yang expressing “concern” about Trump getting raided. Give me a fucking break.

So, what I see right now is a concerted effort to make the prosecution of Treason against the United States seem super dangerous and the credulous press is lapping it up because it drives clicks and retweets.

Yes, violence is almost inevitable leading up to the elections, and I am extremely concerned that the elections themselves will be a target. But breathlessly repeating the whinging of random cult members with no context is not helpful.

When they have a specific target, it’s time to be seriously concerned. But right now all this type of coverage does is increase the possibility of stochastic violence — meaning random people will get it in their head that they need to commit crimes in order to show loyalty to their cult.

And I’m just going to say this for now. The press coverage around QAnon and its various descendants has been and is being poisoned by the same pile of disinformation agents and trolls that have been trying to silence me for two years. CNN and MSNBC in particular have been infected by this group of liars — people who have been intentionally wrong since the start of this nightmare.
