Kansas is a bright red state (although it occasionally elects Democratic governors) but has nonetheless roundly rejected a statewide referendum on banning abortion.
The turnout for this was massive. All Democrats have to do is run on this issue.
Women’s rights is what distinguished the 20th century from the 19th. I’m not letting my future granddaughters grow up with old white fascist men controlling their bodies or taking away their vote. And even in Kansas, 63% of the population feels the same way.
But this is the issue the insurrectionist cult will try to break America’s will with regardless of what we want. They spent a half-century engineering a judicial coup that has the Court controlled by christo-fascists who are driven by End Times ideology not the Rule of Law.
So, we need to get 52 Senators and a solid edge in the House to protect women, gay marriage and any other rights the Supreme Terrorist Court wants to dismantle. The next few months are going to be a brutal psychological war. And I’m afraid it will continue to get more kinetically violent as well.
Our job is to keep our eye on the ball and press the advantage we have, which is substantial. We still have two thirds of the country who don’t want to turn back the clock two centuries.
Keep the pressure on the DOJ to take the traitors off the streets. And get out the vote at every level. LFG. 🇺🇸
Ironically the state of my birth! Go Kansas! 🌻🇺🇲🌻
Kansas makes me feel hopeful. I write advertisements for democratic candidates everyday and I have 2 groups I blast them out on. I write postcards to remind people to vote. I feel I must to something. I share info such as this. My group was thrilled with the Kansas results. Very encouraging. I always only promote pro abortion candidates. I refuse to promote anyone who does not clearly believe women have the rights to their own healthcare. I will push this issue in my future ads now. It is a great hot button. I find abortion rights, and flip this seat to remove the 147 GOP who voted to throw out our votes on Jan 6 get a lot of traction on Twitter. I wish I had a bigger mega phone but in my group together we really blast everyone’s candidates.
My only big concern is my constant worry that right before November 8th the SCOTUS will give voting rights back to the states. If they do….DO WE HAVE ANY RECOURSE?!
