Yes, Virginia, We are in WWIII
Putin’s move to annex 20% of Ukraine is just another escalation
There’s a lot of tweeting and hand-wringing about whether we may be about to enter a world war with Russia.
Susan Glasser in The New Yorker is almost there.
But the truth is that Putin began his war with the United States and “western ideology” decades ago. His active measures, designed to subvert American democracy, have been eroding our institutions and influencing our press and politics for a very long time.
When Mike Flynn traveled to GRU headquarters at the same time Edward Snowden was stealing secrets from Flynn’s top secret DIA servers in June 2013, he declared his alliance with Putin.
When he allowed Putin to annex Crimea under our noses in 2014, he got fired.
But it was 2015, once Trump was identified as the designated Russian puppet, that the real war was begun. This has been a world war — between the two largest nuclear powers in the world — but only one side is fighting it.
The war is not primarily being fought in American streets, of course, it’s being fought in the minds of every American. Our brains are the battlefield in this war, and war is hell. We’ve all lived through the consequences. We’re tired, traumatized and pissed off. And we’re all sick of being manipulated and lied to.
This is the two-headed snake pushing the globe towards nuclear war. CUT THEM BOTH OFF.
