Here in the UK there has been dozens of Holocaust documentaries on (free to air) daytime TV, for decades. They all have interviews with witnesses/survivors. I’ve watched most of them, except a few that are too dark.
One of the main takeaways is that only a tiny minority of Jews knew they were going to their death. On the rare occasion a (fully aware) Jew was warning others at the train station, nobody believed them.
It’s a common RW talking point at the moment to say that civilians could have stopped the Nazi Blitzkreig in the nations that were conquered. This ignores the obvious fact that it took the armed forces of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Russia 5-6 years to defeat the Nazis.
