That I dare try to recover! That I dare try to be safe with friends and colleagues! That I dare still draft! That I dare want water in a lake and boat house. That I dare sell my art and have an income!
Great conversation. I had picked up quite a bit of this in driibs and drabs over a couple of years listening to you guys, but it was great hearing it all put together into a more coherent narrative. I want my son to listen because he got somewhat influenced by the gamergate bullshit. Fortunately not too badly, but I still think he could benefit from hearing this.
Well I got taught my lesson again. I dared to be safe. I dared to test the waters of selling art on the internet, i.e. earn income. Glad I dared to be safe before I invited my clients in.
This is why gamergate was never about video games and gaming as a whole. It's all about pushing ideas out there, not just being afraid of an extreme example of a "bigoted" SJT.
I will try not to diminish the importance of these events, in particular their importance to an online movement that has already grown over the last month with all of the media attention they've gotten. Because I do believe that this needs to be discussed and highlighted in real life. I do not think it should be taken so lightly to focus on.
For those that want me to know you are watching me, do you think I deserve having my computer hacked again? That I needed to be taught another lesson?
That I dare try to recover! That I dare try to be safe with friends and colleagues! That I dare still draft! That I dare want water in a lake and boat house. That I dare sell my art and have an income!
That I dare call you a sadist!
You are doing a lot more than “watching” me.
