Dark Cathedral: Replacing Reality—One Channel at a Time

How CBS is just the beginning of an epistemological war.

The central antagonist of the neo-fascist philosophy Dark Enlightenment is “the cathedral”—the collective institutions of American government, education, media, and society that support the dominant paradigm of western liberal democracy. The chief promoter of this concept is Thiel-funded propagandist Curtis Yarvin, who describes the cathedral as a kind of mysteriously coherent set of institutions that all “move together”:

The goal of the Dark Enlightenment is to destroy the cathedral in its entirety so that elites are free to replace the government with a patriarchal, feudalist, white supremacist oligarchy.

The alleged benefit of this new post-democratic world is a futuristic utopia of abundance where a small technocratic royalty will provide everything for the serfs.

The tradeoff is that the elites will also decide everything for us—even if we don’t like it—because it’s for our own good. While this was seen as an extremist line of thought in certain niche tech bro circles for many years, it has now seized the levers of power—and the destruction of the cathedral is well underway:

Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, is cheerleading the destruction of one of the great institutions of American journalism, 60 Minutes, and urging Bari Weiss, a longtime tool of the broligarchs, to “clean house bigtime.” This is after Weiss spiked a horrifying story about the Trump regime’s El Salvadoran black site torture camp CECOT—the day before the piece was supposed to air on Sunday.

This is part of a concerted effort to replace America’s existing institutions with an alternate dark version of Yarvin’s cathedral, which will have a similar shape as it’s predecessor—but present a reality that exclusively suits the elites who erect it.

So now, for example, on Dark CBS:

• After a full week of promotion, Bari Weiss gives a fawning hour-long interview to regime propagandist Erika Kirk—who endorses JD Vance a few days later.

• A 13-minute story about torture by the Trump regime gets spiked by Weiss—who gives the producers Stephen Miller’s cell phone number to “correct” it.

• The “Trump Kennedy Center Honors” will be broadcast, starring master of ceremonies Donald Trump, in his new Trump re-branded building.

  

This is the model they intend to replicate across media—to break the back of reality by replacing every part of the cathedral with a dark version.

But the goal of the Dark Cathedral is far broader than just hiding abuse, and promoting the regime. The goal is to present an alternate world where organized crime and genocide are not just hidden, or even acceptable; they are seen as the only choice.

Despite having the ability to solve world hunger with a tiny fraction of his obscene stockpile of wealth, Musk took singular aim at USAID with DOGE, immediately after the inauguration. This has already resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths, with up to 15 million more at risk.

This was no incidental side effect of cost-cutting. It was—and continues to be—deliberate mass murder by a genocidally racist regime which sees itself not as the world’s greatest democracy, but as an instrument of vengeance for white men, and a massive target for plunder.

But the elite is unsatisfied with an American Dark Cathedral—it wants to use the power of the government to spread its poison globally. Incredibly, the U.S. State Department is sanctioning European citizens for “censorship“ they don’t like—including a former guest on my podcast.

The “red line” they allegedly crossed is speaking out against what the State Department scare-quotes as “disinformation” including identifying deadly anti-vax propagandists—a practice that saved countless lives. This is information imperialism—the overt demand that other countries go along with your false, dangerous ideas—or face the consequences.

Epistemological totalitarianism refers to the state controlling the means of knowledge—when the government decides what’s real and what isn’t. This is a crucial aspect of the Trump-broligarchy plan for permanent power, because without it, their dominance grows more and more tenuous. If people anywhere around the world see clearly what’s going on, they will inevitably rise up against it.

The question is, can it work?

Long term, I don’t think so. But short term, they will do an enormous amount of damage to our collective ability to process the real world. 2026 is going to be a test of the world’s Emergency Broadcast System. It will be a test of our ability to reroute our information intake around the dark cathedral.

Stay aware. The priests of the Dark Enlightenment are relentless.
