Charismatic Christianity is basically just Christianity with extra bullshit on top. It adds a lot of speaking-in-tongues, miracles, living prophets, formulaic music, and revival-tent hucksterism to the standard methods for controlling religious membership.
People of Praise is a Charismatic Catholic cult formed in 1971. Portraying itself as a network of “intentional communities,” it is nothing short of institutionalized subjugation of women, hatred of LGBTQ+ people, and exploitation of its members.
Here’s an article in the National Catholic Register in 1980 about how it uses “brainwashing.”
There is very little structural difference between People of Praise and authoritarian cults like Scientology. Members are insulated, discouraged from contact with the outside, and have all decisions made for them by self-appointed male prophets.
Amy Coney-Barrett and her husband are both deeply involved in the People of Praise cult. Coney-Barrett’s mother was a “handmaid,” her father was on the male board of governors, and they lived in a house owned by the founder of the cult, Kevin Ranaghan.

Handmaids “directly oversee women with unusual problems.” Presumably this means women who object to being treated like servants. Women are under the “headship” of their husbands and the male “coordinators” and “prophets.”
The founder of the cult, Kevin Ranaghan is — not shockingly — a piece of shit accused of child sexual abuse and the practical and emotional enslavement of women.
Here he is in 1977 at a Charismatic conference, timestamped when he starts at 2:30.
Coney-Barrett, of course, was bulldozed through Congressional hearings by Mitch McConnell a few weeks before the 2020 election, despite his infamously preventing Merrick Garland from even coming to a vote 11 months before the 2016 election because it was “too close.”
Coney-Barrett was announced at a Rose Garden ceremony that turned into a superspreader event after lying through her teeth during Congressional hearings about everything she was planning on doing and why.
Amy Coney-Barrett is not there to be a judge. She is not there to interpret the law or the Constitution. She is there on a mission from God, except “God” in her case is five “coordinators” who exert total control over her cult.
Like Jonestown and other dangerous cults, members of People of Praise are unduly influenced by fake prophets only there to exploit them. One member said she “would not hesitate to commit suicide if a coordinator ordered her to do so.”
So, Amy Coney-Barrett lied about her religion, her beliefs and her plans. She purposefully deceived Congress and the American people in order to fulfill a mission from misogynistic cult “coordinators” who believe women should make no decisions for themselves.
She is not a “Justice.” She defiles the Supreme Court seat she illegally occupies every second she’s there.

Crazy, terrifying, outrageous! And unbelievable tha she would be sitting on SCOTUS.
I was swept up into the Jesus Freak Movement in Santa Ana, Orange County early 70's. Lots of burned out hippies were. Calvary Chapel, ruled by Chuck Smith in Costa Mesa, had a huge tent cult attended by thousands while their church was being built. Bible studies 7 days a week, all day. I lived in a Christian commune there. At the same time the New Age Guru Movement from India was infiltrating West Coast. One group called The Family, ruled by The Father, opened the first health food store and restaurant in LA. They fled to Hawai'i in the 80's and I knew them through their health food store in Kailua. There were also maniacs like chain smoking Jane Roberts who "channeled" an ancient entity named Seth and wrote many New Age books about IT. Pentecostal Movement in Detroit began with POC and little old Puerto Rican ladies dancing in the spirit. When the Charismatic Movement exploded in some Catholic Churches, I found it odd. I went to parochial schools most of my life. Mass every day. Catechism, Holy Communion (married to christ). The works! Could not read the bible. Priests job. Certainly couldn't prophesize. Blasphemy. So their embrace of singing in the spirit, laying on of hands and speaking in tongues was condemned by most back then. So here we are fifty years later. Fkn terrifying nut Jobs in our highest courts. I hate all religions. All of them
