Parallels to King Philip II of Spain who launched three consecutive armadas to invade England. Without any strategy, and with limited knowledge of British waters.
They all got their arse kicked by the Royal Navy and/or the British weather.
Philip thought he failed because he hadn’t prayed hard enough!
He was a dictator, a micromanager, and he was pretty thick.
Funny that the Normans managed to pull it off, five centuries earlier.
I was in fact thrilled to see that Iranians are bringing in mental health professionals to help in the negotiations. I do not see it as programming the President, but rather learning how to work with a dangerous and volatile person who poses access to the nuclear codes... Iran was attacked twice in the middle of negotiations. They are falsely painted as this evil influence in the Middle East, when all they want is for the genocide in Gaza to stop and to be allowed their sovereignty, which includes developing a nuclear program. Nuclear weapons are against their religion. For more info about Iran, see Prof Marandi on YouTube, along with Col Lawrence Wilkerson, Ambassador Chas Freeman and Alastair Crooke. Helpful books on Iran are Going to Tehran by F Leverett and Resistance by Alastair Crooke.
This is such important reporting! Thank you! I will repost in and tag people who need to better understand how Trump is a threat to our country and the world!
Remember the movie "Idiocracy"? For some reason Trumper conservatives did not comprehend it was about them. Now here we are witnessing it happening in real life.
What so many of us keep forgetting is that Trump is only a symbol of the present day scourge on humanity. It is those who -- but for the benefits they reap by continuing to back him would never tolerate this insane behavior -- that collectively have unleashed this curse.
Unfortunately... Very well said! A couple years ago I was very much into bandy Lee's substack. The leading psychiatrist and psychologists of the entire planet got together to make a statement to that effect. It seems to have had zero effect on the public. I tried to talk about a couple of things to some friends of mine this morning. They barked at me for complaining. What is one person going to do? What are you doing about it? I told them... Tell that to the albanians. Pack up your things and go home. All of you in the street are just one person each and can't do anything! I finished by saying... I always wondered What it would be like in 1930s Germany and who would I be. The resistance? Just a guy with his head down ignoring everything? A lot of people don't want to hear anything about it. I get it they feel helpless. Anyway ... Jim thank you for holding the course and helping to figure out what the fuck to do about all this shit. I go to all the protests call the senators yada yada. I think a general strike is the only thing. But with all these folks with the head in the sand is that ever going to happen? I guess it has to get to the point where the economy crashes and then they'll be out with the pitchforks saying "who could have known?"
There was a post today comparing the crowds in the streets for the Knicks win to the crowds at the nearby protest at a ICE detention center. Illuminating.
I remember people yelling at me in 2015 when I predicted that Trump would be the death knell of the US. “Stop your damn exaggerating and catastrophizing”, they said. Where are these people now, I wonder. Most of them stopped speaking to me.
Same here. I always got the chills when I saw a photo of him — long before he slid down that escalator. I will never understand how anyone could like or trust him.
And at the bottom of that escalator, he showed us exactly the kind of person that he was, calling immigrants from Mexico "rapists & murderers", sheesh 🙄
What still amazes me is this. Trump had more written about him than any candidate in my memory (I’m 83). Nothing he has done should have surprised anyone. But I still remember this little gem: “Trump is a great businessman. Haven’t you watched “The Apprentice”? And we wonder why the U.S. is going down the tubes.
And for that I put 💯 percent of the blame on Joe Biden. It became immediately clear to me that he wanted to run against Trump again because he (Biden) assumed he would win. So there was zero accountability for 1/6.
My dad once said that all politicians are crooks, and I can’t disagree.
Merrick the meek Garland was in The Club, he got orders to go after all of the low-hanging fruit for four freaking years, but hands off the orange menace, we want him in the Oval, he will be very useful.
Exactly right about Garland. I laugh sardonically at all the people who put all the blame on him for failing to nail the architects of J6. I’ve always wondered if Biden made “hands off the biggest menaces” a job requirement when he interviewed AG candidates.
Yes… by the “It Can’t Happen Here” believers. There is absolutely nothing special (“exceptional”) about the American people to prevent this… which we have proof of now. The only thing exceptional about America is it’s founding vision of all being created equal. And we now see that vision being destroyed because the founding fathers didn’t design a system that could survive and actually repel an attack from within like the one that has been going on literally since Reagan came into office.
It was bound to happen. After all Putin had his "number" from the very beginning even before little dick became the most powerful entity in the so-called free world.

Yeah and we had 4 years after the first shit show to clean house but we did nothing. Kinda makes you wonder.

The road to fascism is paved with people telling us to stop overreacting. 💯

Spot on, Jenn. Maybe if more people had “exaggerated and catastrophized”, we wouldn’t be here right now.
Like an orange fiddle.
It was bound to happen. After all Putin had his "number" from the very beginning even before little dick became the most powerful entity in the so-called free world.
So impossibly true!
