Either the DEM leadership in Congress and the White House don't fully grasp what the situation is or the DEMS as a national political operation are afraid of leveling with the public because they fear it will hurt their candidates at the ballot box. Maybe it's both or neither. The Jan 6th committee members certainly understand what's going on. Let's hope it's timing and once the story comes out with the televised hearings, the president and DEM leadership will be straight and blunt with the public. I still have hope that truth, or at least some of it, will get through to many in the public.
I believe that Biden and the gutless Dem administration see the gun wielding white nationalist deplorables as a hornet's nest of violence and are afraid that any denouncement of the right and their dear corrupt leader lying Trump will set off a shooting civil war that they have no plan of action to do other than capitulate and lose. Why else is lying Trump never brought to task for his obvious and multitude of crimes and the Justice Department walks on eggshells being so nonpartisan and nonconfrontational that they are ineffective unless you are a low level criminal. The Dems are just bidding their time until they gracefully hand all the keys of power to the neo-Nazi fascists while Pelosi stands in the background leading a useless prayer vigil for the future of the democracy that Democrats pledged to protect but never had the will or smarts to plan for.
