This strikes me as just another flavor of the GQP’s posing as a “majority” in the US. They have been fronting and telling us they’re the “real Americans” and the “majority” for more than a generation now. I distinctly recall Bob Dole spewing the lie on national news back in the day. And part of the problem is the media not calling them on this and many other falsehoods. All that’s needed to give proper context is to point out that when polled on specific policy questions, the majority of the US tends center left.

This also tracks with the framing of polls that a “majority” of registered republicans still support DFG and that percentage has been increasing. Worrisome until you realize there are far fewer registered republicans than in 2016 because droves have changed to independent or no party affiliation, etc.

I appreciate your analysis on this because I too had noticed the spike in violent phrases being used on right wing message boards. I am concerned that social media platforms are still being exploited to push anti-democratic propaganda, especially by coordinated inauthentic accounts, however reframing it using your analysis is an excellent way to identify their intent (fear) and take away their power.

Most Americans are not anti-democratic, violent insurrectionists. Coup propagandists want the world to believe Trump has a militia of millions at his ready when the reality is closer to the 12 guys waving flags at Mara lago
