Lawrence gets it right. Ben Collins doubles down.
At 7PM PST, Lawrence had the exact correct take about the freak out last night that there would be violence as a result of the DOJ raid yesterday.
There is no uprising.
Out of 3 million Trump supporters in Florida, 12 guys showed up to chug beer outside Mar-a-lago. That’s it. There was and is no violence. And Telegram is basically back to normal tonight.
Lawrence also said that the story about the civil war and extreme violent rhetoric is the story coming from the right wing. This is true. They want you to think they are scary and violent because it gives them power. Lawrence did an incredible job of not giving it to them.
However, at 8PM, Ben Collins went on Stephanie Ruhle’s show and did his best to scare the shit out of the boomers — again. The exact opposite of the hour before. Ben did the same act as last night but added that some of the people saying “civil war” were people who had already been arrested for being at 1/6. He said this in scary tones despite there being no date, target, threat or leader, and despite none of them being in any position to do anything but rant on TheDonald.
Ben also tried to scare everyone with Steven Crowder last night. 😆
Here’s how that turned out:
Ben keeps insisting that what he is seeing online is “the worst since January 5th” which is ridiculous and frankly irresponsible. That is unmitigated bullshit.
Why is he doubling down on this nonsense? Ben seems to be committed to pushing this doom despite all evidence to the contrary. He got it wrong and his reaction is to go back on TV and repeat himself? That doesn’t seem very… journalistic.
I was a fan of Ben’s. Got to know him a bit. Then he got pulled over to the cult of fake leftists that have been covering for Flynn and the Russians (and criminally harassing me) and then he ghosted me. The last thing he told me is that I was too focused on Flynn. Whatever. We’ll see about that buddy.
I sure hope Ben’s not getting these doom stories from GamerGate cult leader Fred Brennan, considering Ben shoehorned in a plug for Fred three times in a row on TV hits a few months ago. If I recall the word “heroic” was used and I nearly puked.
Anyway, for whatever reason, Ben is getting shit increasingly wrong. It’s disappointing. I hope he figures it out. Or MSNBC does. Whichever comes first.

This strikes me as just another flavor of the GQP’s posing as a “majority” in the US. They have been fronting and telling us they’re the “real Americans” and the “majority” for more than a generation now. I distinctly recall Bob Dole spewing the lie on national news back in the day. And part of the problem is the media not calling them on this and many other falsehoods. All that’s needed to give proper context is to point out that when polled on specific policy questions, the majority of the US tends center left.
This also tracks with the framing of polls that a “majority” of registered republicans still support DFG and that percentage has been increasing. Worrisome until you realize there are far fewer registered republicans than in 2016 because droves have changed to independent or no party affiliation, etc.
