Okay let's get this party started. Opening statement for Thursday:

Democracy indeed does not work. That is, it does not work without a well-informed, decently educated electorate. It does not work when it tolerates abominations like the electoral college, a blatantly undemocratic Senate and a corrupt judicial system. So much work to do....
I will grant you that civics lessons need huge improvements. However, I don’t think you don’t need everyone to be philosopher kings for a representative democracy to work. People may not understand the intricacies of economics, and law, but I think most people can navigate which party is working in their interest if they aren’t constantly being manipulated with weapons grade psyop and cult control tactics. On the other hand, highly educated people can fall victim to that manipulation as well.
We are in agreement. Higher education does not necessarily assure good sense. Our so-called "Supreme" Court bears alarming witness to that (pun intended). It's just that with the decades-long right wing attack on public education that has escalated, as you say, to psyop and cult control (with a huge helping hand from fundamentalist religion) many people are very ill-informed. Religion has warped more than a few into acting against their own best interest.
So many individuals believe Democracy can’t work that they are openly planning to conduct more 1776, 2A, and J6 style attacks to push a false Christo-fascist state. I say false because Jesus didn’t preach what these guys do during his ministry.
