The Dems were dead to me once Kamala lost and Biden started acting like it was business as usual. I'm like, WTF?! Everything is about to crumble and there was no Plan B?

I hear you, Jim. This dismantling of our government space that we're in, gasping for air every day, has exposed what I think we've known for some time, the D's don't want to change, don't want to learn how to fight. Damnit, they just don't have the grit to get it together. They have every possible support system available to facilitate this and all I get are daily pleas for donations like they're all in election mode. The new DNC chair best get control of this quickly because I'm a person without a party right now.

I am not completely educated about this issue, but I tend to agree with Dave Troy. Schumer Shutdown is what the masses will believe. And Musk's destruction will be complete.

Government shut-downs have been the tool of sick Republicans for decades. In principle, the tactic should be forbidden. We need a constitutional amendment to eliminate such an insane possibility. Make Congress vote up or down on real issues. As for the parties, we are not a system of five or six established parties giving one the illusion of solidarity with like-minded people. The two parties are coalitions of parties, one right-leaning and one left-leaning. This fight against Nazism 2025 will be won by the winning coalition, or fought out on the streets under martial law and revolution. While the weakness of the democrats is sickening, and while a shut-down now by democrats might actually be effective, the problem is still systemic and the solution long term. It really doesn't matter what "party" one identifies with. The left leaning democratic-socialist coalition must prevail over fascism everywhere. But I don't have to tell you that. Keep us informed. We need you.

Welcome to the NPA! I just left a message for Sen Schumer (5calls.org is awesome!). If he cannot fight the GOP and their fascist, oligarchic takeover, he must be in bed with them! Epstein list anyone?

Does anyone follow Dave Troy?

"Democrats can choose between voting for the bad CR and fixing things later, or shutting down the government, risking having it never re-open — what Musk wants. Repudiate the bill, demand changes, but don’t fall for the trap and also be blamed for it."

There are two choices dude. Why don't you run for Congress instead. Seems we're fucked either way and Schumer thinks we're less fucked this way.

All most all of the "representatives" we have in this country are more concerned about their own agendas and reputations than about the PEOPLE they "represent". There are a rare few who care to fulfill their oaths. Why do we elect such weak humans over and over and over?

Schumer has lost his grip: there is no way any negotiations will bring anything fair o decent from a Continued Resolution.

I left the Democrat(ic) Party years ago to become a registered Independent because I was tired of all the hounding for money, money, and more money, and FOR WHAT?? It's not like the MONEY has brought good candidates. In the long run, all of these quislings cave in the end -- and yeah, I used "quislings;" a traitor who collaborates with the enemy occupying their country -- and if most of the Democrats in office haven't done THAT, I don't know why we're where we are.

So the money grubbing stopped for me, but not my mom, who remains a registered Dem. They are as bad OR WORSE than the Republicans. My mom is 92, so she doesn't se texts or emails -- I get all of her emails and review them as needed, but she does get US Mail from Hakeem Jeffries, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, MICHELLE Obama, and all the rest of "the names." It gets ripped in half -- she loves doing that, for some reason -- and goes in the trash. Fun times!

I made a comment in another lefty-type forum that I was starting to put some blame for what's going on with Trump/Musk on the Dems because they haven't done a GD thing except make speeches and videos, complaining. Some genius asked me what I thought the Dems could do since they're in the minority and the Republicans have the whole government. Being in the minority didn't stop Mitch McConnell from wielding power during Obama or Biden, as I recall. But here's Schumer, folding like a cheap suit, not even TRYING.

JFC, I am sick of this shit!

We have local elections in a week or two and I'll vote in those, but someone is going to have to do some HEAVY persuading for me to do much of anything in 2026. We NEED more progressive candidates, not more of this milquetoast nonsense we've been getting. They're fine for normal times, but we're not there anymore. UGH!!

SHHHH. It is not over yet. In Trainor's song THE VOTE IS NO, THE ANSWER IS NO, THE SHUTDOWN IS YES.

Did I miss an actual vote or is it still tomorrow?

IMO, I think it has everything to do with the comment Trump made yesterday about Chuck Schumer not being Jewish anymore. It's sad, and if that's the case I'm out.

I’ve been flooding Schumer’s Twitter and Bluesky account with demands that he VOTE NO tomorrow! Maybe you could do the same thing.
