OK, I am out.

The party of the meek is dead to me.

After Donald Trump targeted Chuck Schumer in the Oval Office during a state visit with the President of Ireland yesterday, with an extremely antisemitic attack, today Schumer decided he will flip-flop and vote to save the Republicans from a shutdown, unilaterally giving away the only leverage the Democrats have.

Yesterday, Schumer vowed that would not happen.

So, after an entire life of being a Democrat, and trying with all my heart to support my party, and help them when they struggled — for five years, 7 days a week, for nothing. Now, I am officially done.

My grandparents came to America to flee pogroms caused by the exact kind of hatred being directed at Schumer by Trump. They were children, they had no choice to run. Schumer is a grown man, a Jew who should know what he’s looking at, and the Senate Minority Leader who swore an Oath — running like a child from a big orange clown. That’s why we need adults again to lead. Not the children we have now.

My grandmother deserves better, and my grandchildren deserve better.

The Democrats are just the flip side of the Republicans. The Republicans steal an election, and trillions of dollars from American citizens. The Democrats come in and clean up. Then we do it all again. It’s a cycle of abuse that requires a military mindset, an understanding of battle tactics and psychological warfare to break. It does not require Ken Martin, or any of the feckless, clueless Democrats.

Our enemies decided long ago that they were no longer fighting a political battle. The Democrats cannot seem to grasp this, and I’m sorry to say, based on all available information, never will.

So, I wish them the best luck in their future endeavors, preserving norms and institutions on the bridge of the USS Titanic. But for this Independent, I am out.
