How far will this go?

Greetings Jim:

Last year on Election Day, I participated in a vote for various New York political offices. One of these votes just so happened to be in the newly redrawn 3rd Congressional District, where I reside. On the day of the election, I voted straight Democratic Party, as I usually do. That included voting for 2022 Democratic Congressional Nominee Robert Zimmerman to Congress. Unfortunately, though New York is a Democratic State, the tint has started to turn more purple. Particularly in the Upstate and Long Island areas, where there appears to be more Republicans than Democrats and Independents. People here will vote for any charlatan if they have an R attached to their party affiliation.

As you know, the 3rd District elected Rep. George Santos (R-NY) to Congress. Well, 54% of voters. Even then, I am not sure if that is legitimate. And I say this because George Santos is not legitimate either. Rep. Santos not only lies, but he is also a lie. Far worse than merely lying. And the sad truth is I knew this man was a complete con artist when I was looking for concrete evidence on Rep. Santos’ life. I found nothing. Just a consistent insult to anyone who thinks. I need not go over every fabricated story and blatant lie mentioned by Rep. Santos this past year; this would be a Wikipedia article and a clear case of plagiarism. Indeed, we know Russian funds were sent to the Santos campaign as kompromat. What I would like to focus on is the lack of gumption in countering last year’s overarching New York campaign platform. Which should not have been given preeminence in the first place.

I detest state and federal elections which focus on crime. Any time I hear the word crime and other such phrases like “tough on crime” and “crime is up,” I replace crime with black. So, I hear a political candidate say phrases like “black population is up” and “we need to be tough on blacks.” As if white people are pure as the driven snow. Let us face it: New York is not, and in my going to be 40 years in life, never was a white man’s haven. The African American community, where I reside, is looked at negatively and are considered implicitly as below all other races. Not all, but more so than not. You and I may know of someone close to us that shares these disturbing beliefs. In their undereducated minds, a Republican is against crime (read: blacks) and a Democrat is for crime (read: blacks). It also camouflages all other issues during an election. In 2022, I heard nothing from Rep. Santos or other Republicans on issues relating to public health, housing, international relations, economic concerns, or human rights. Only negativity. That, and being against “woke,” itself a derogatory term against black people.

With that in mind, the GQP made a bold move in allowing gullible voters to elect a lie. A literal, self-conscious lie of a person. And we are paying a steep price for it. The easiest way to rectify this issue is to have Rep. George Santos not seated. That, however, is a temporary fix. A longer-term solution is to fight back against the crime narrative. It is needed to explain why crime=black in the eyes and ears of the public. And it is important to counter and replace the harmful narrative with bringing the truth on the issues that have been given to divide the voters along racial lines. Perhaps then we can have the brainwashed turn to being egalitarian and willing to be better people.

I was one who never thought people would take QAnon seriously but then people started voting for QAnon people. Then Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony revealed that Navarro was apparently full-on QAnon, good grief, I guess a lot more people in government too. . And the people who idolize Musk! There’s a long road ahead to get back to sanity.
