Putin has been gravely wounded by the events of the last week, regardless of how people spin it. This makes him a very dangerous animal, a totalist authoritarian with nuclear weapons whose holy war has suddenly and precipitously backfired.
Yevgeny Prigozhin was the head of the neo-Nazi terrorist paramilitary Wagner Group that formed to do Putin’s dirty work in Africa, Ukraine and many other theaters outside Russia’s borders. The deal was that as long as Wagner accomplished their mission, Prigozhin was entitled to plunder and steal from the locals. This made Prigozhin rich.
When Prigozhin got pushed too far in Ukraine by Putin and his generals, where Prigozhin was losing money and men in great quantities, he had what can only be described as a tantrum. In the process, he disclosed the real start of the war on Ukraine and exploded Putin’s propaganda about his motivations, ie. Putin’s projection of “denazification.”
More incredibly, Prigozhin turned his army 180-degrees and drove a large column of armored vehicles and tanks deep into Russia — within 120 miles of Moscow.
Any speculation about foreign intelligence involvement or that this was 11-dimensional chess is nonsense. Putin, bluntly, freaked out, got in his jet, and turned off the transponder. He was digging trenches in Moscow. He looked weak, scared and feckless.
Stress tends to bring people’s true character out. He was utterly humiliated and his subsequent appearances looked haunted. This was a massive blow to a very fragile, messianic ego. That sort of thing tends to have personal consequences. But this messianic ego has nukes.
While in the process of writing this article, Putin arrested one of his top generals for siding with Prigozhin. This is typical of strongmen losing power. Their paranoia, however justified, makes them turn their anger inward on their own people, before lashing out. This purge will not stop here.
More alarming, is the fact that both Dugin and Lavrov are effectively saying the same thing — which is that the “Special Military Operation” has failed and now it is total war on “the Ukrainian army of the US and NATO.”
Ukrainian military intelligence asserts that the Kremlin has already “drafted and approved” a “plan to blow up Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant — which would make Chernobyl seem like a puff of smoke. This plant supplies a massive amount of power to Europe and it would make a huge part of Ukraine uninhabitable.
Unfortunately this is not unthinkable under this set of circumstances, and I hope there is a plan to avert this and a plan for how to handle the consequences.
Here is the heartbreakingly underreported war crime of Putin blowing up the Dnipro River Dam. It killed hundreds of people under a massive column of water and made a large populated part of Ukraine uninhabitable.
Here are the latest rantings of genocidal Putin strategist Aleksandr Dugin calling for a “sharp, unexpected, hard and fatal” strike against the “rabid, poisonous squirrels” of Ukraine. This is nothing short of Nazi rhetoric.
Now Prigozhin, who flew around in Russia for several days on his plane after striking a deal with Putin to stop his advance on Moscow, has disappeared into Belarus, under the “supervision” of Putin marionette Lukashenko.
Recently, in a highly unusual move, Putin sent tactical nukes to Belarus. Now Prigozhin is there — the war criminal whose men tortured, raped and murdered countless Ukrainians.
All of these fascists see the end for themselves, but they are messianic sociopaths who will stop at nothing to retain their power.
I’m not going to sugar-coat it, I believe Putin is going to do something drastic. I just hope our intelligence services are doing their jobs to avert the most world-altering possibilities.
Again thank you for the straight forward information.
I think that Lukashenko made a potentially fatal mistake. By allowing Prighoshin exile in Belarus, he risks being kicked out of power by the remnants of Wagner.
