To "conservatives" the age of reason never happened and never influenced our founding fathers who the right now promotes as god loving right wing Christian radicals pushing for a theocracy rather than getting away from the theocracies and rampant class system in Europe looking for religious and economic freedom from the then status quo. You know the skewed version of history you get in a private religious school pushing Christofascist propaganda on kids.
