Thank you for all this history and links to things I had never imagined. It's helping me understand why some of my neighbors (who are MAGA) are always so angry. But it doesn't help me forgive my parents, who were racist.

Well Jim , I don't remember who originally said it but "religion is the opiate of the masses" we see that with "christian nationalism" they want you to believe in god because from there you can be convinced that a particular figure on earth is sent by god. All the preachers haven't gone quite so far as little dick who constantly says his people are smarter because they believe that he is gods emissary on earth. One very good reason to keep church and governance separated. Even now they are insisting that your faith defines you. You must be a bad person if you don't believe. Yet all the examples including Kirk and his missus shows us that they don't know the first thing about loving your neighbour as yourself. As for the education argument. I was once married to a man who couldn't read or spell or use grammar correctly and yet got his BEd. He went on to get his Masters. I used to read over his work and even sat in on some of his lectures. When we would talk about it afterwards I noticed he didn't "get it" in some cases. BTW I had to quit school at 15 because I was pregnant. My schooling was split between Austria, Italy, France and Britain because I was an "army brat.". Maybe that's the way to understanding what we read?

Excellent article, Jim. Learning things I never knew, yet watched the whole thing on TV with the Nelson Mandela marches. I've never understood racism. My inborn empathy for the injustice of POC has never waned. What's happening here is appalling and 💔.
I would like to know the thoughts of Quislings like Clarence Thomas, Tim Scott, Byron Donalds, Herschel Walker, Ye, Candace Owens and black Republicans in general, feel about any of this.
Yep, have you seen the movie Django Unchained. They are the house slave Stephen, who sips brandy by the fire place with the massah, while counseling him as to how to discipline the field slaves.
I would venture that all fascists are Machiavellian, and for all the Black American fascists, the end justifies the means of their gains. The GOP's whole political platform is "Win at any cost". Black MAGA may even feel that their Black neighbors approve of authoritarian policies if they elevate the Black community. There is also probably an element of plain ignorance of apartheid among followers of Herschel Walker and Ye.

My guess is those folks are out for themselves and have seized on a lane in which they can advance/enrich themselves.
