Taygeta Family: Heaven’s Gate in Waiting
How a syncretic mixture of QAnon, deviant Christianity and science fiction is setting up for mass tragedy
In my work, I often run into content that disturbs me as a father, and deeply concerns me about the future of our youth. I ran across a relatively young man, who I have obfuscated because I’m personally concerned for his well-being and his family’s, who has fallen into the grip of a dangerous cult called the “Taygeta Family.”
The original video is nearly an hour, composed of a new father’s commentary on his long Reddit post about his devotion to cult leader “Kabamur Taygeta” and the “Galactic Federation.” The man explains:
“I wrote a post after analyzing Q for years now, and then finally coming full circle to the truth. The truth is that President Trump and his team are assigned with a task from God to guide humanity to Ascension to Heaven, OK? And some Christians are not going to like what I’m about to say, but ascension to Heaven is not to the clouds. Ascension to Heaven is to a better Earth in another locations and another dimension, OK? …
I’m just going to tell you, the Q team confirmed that we have extraterrestrials among us. Consider the vastness of space. This video is going to be directed directly towards Tucker Carlson, General Michael Flynn, and General Kwast.
Well, I just started the family. I’m a dad as of two days ago… I’m not afraid. I haven’t been afraid, OK?”
There is a lot going on here, obviously, but I think it’s worth looking deeply at the historical and ideological context of this extraordinarily disturbed individual’s beliefs because he is hardly alone. The cult he’s involved in, the Taygeta Family, and its cult leader “Kabamur” caught my attention over four years ago on Twitter. I also wrote about them when they openly endorsed Mike Flynn in 2022. It is one of many cults that follow so-called UFO religions that have popped up over the years, but this one has reached a scale never imagined by its predecessors.
In many ways, the popular Christian retellings of Heaven being “in the sky” and “Jesus coming down” to save the faithful are the predecessor of millenarian UFO religions. It’s hard to argue that God is not, to put it one way at least, an extraterrestrial. Nevertheless with rocket science and the start of the space race came much more explicit alien narratives.
Theosophy to “I AM”
Arguably, the first true UFO religion was the “I AM Activity,” which was based on theosophy, an occult belief system created by Russian emigré Helena Blavatsky. Theosophy has led to numerous offshoots, some benign crystal-loving “New Age” amusements, some far more dangerous.
As I discovered in September 2021, Mike Flynn aka “Q” had a Christian church read back an occult “I AM” prayer by Elizabeth Clare Prophet, the cult leader of Church Universal and Triumphant, which is a direct ideological descendant of the “I AM Activity” and theosophy.
Order of the Solar Temple
In 1981, three years before Elizabeth Clare Prophet read her prayer in a nuclear bunker in Montana, a Frenchman practicing homeopathy and alternative medicine named Luc Jouret lectured for a neo-Templar organization called “The Golden Way” founded by a conman named Joseph Di Mambro who had a lifelong interest in the occult and the Knights Templar.

Together, Jouret and Di Mambro took over a separate neo-Templar organization which was descended from Sovereign Order of the Solar Temple (OSTS), which combined Rosicrucianism, Masonic rituals and cosmic narratives. It was subsequently recreated by a former French collaborator named Julien Origas and renamed the Renewed Order of the Temple (ORT):
Origas, upon taking control, recreated the group's doctrine away from Rosicrucianism and incorporated aspects of the American religious organization "I AM" Activity. Origas was a former member of the Gestapo, and the affiliation of ORT with some far-right groups drew criticism.
When Di Mambro and Jouret were ejected from the ORT, they started their own schismatic version, the Order of the Solar Temple (OST) which created a uniquely dangerous syncretic ideology.
The precise definition or classification as to what kind of movement the Solar Temple was by academics is inconsistent; scholars have labeled it variously as an esoteric new religious movement, a neo-Templar group, a Rosicrucian organization, a doomsday or suicide cult, a new magical movement, a magical-esoteric religion, or a secret society, among others. Stephen A. Kent and Melodie Campbell classified the group as a UFO religion. According to Henrik Bogdan, what the OTS is classified as depends on "how these labels are defined and what aspects of the OTS are emphasized.
In 1994, Luc Jouret and Joseph Di Mambro ordered the mass murder-suicide of dozens of their followers, which they called “transiting to another dimension.”
Following stressors within the group, Di Mambro and Jouret became increasingly paranoid, and the group's ideological concept of "transiting" to another dimension would grow more prominent. They began to plot a mass murder–suicide which they called a "transit". In October 1994, many members were murdered in Cheiry under his direction. Di Mambro himself died of suicide by poisoning, alongside 24 other members of the Solar Temple in Salvan, Switzerland.
Two more mass murder-suicides took place, in 1995 and 1997. In all, the OST claimed 74 lives. Swiss military intelligence officer Jean Francois Mayer, who knew Joseph Di Mambro said this about him in a documentary:
I think the people who claim that Di Mambro was a con man are right. I think that the people who claimed that Di Mambro was convinced about his spiritual message are right too. Di Mambro was just a kind of complex personality, actually a kind of schizophrenic and disturbed personality. The major, the terrible consequence of it is that he is a total loss of reality and the dream world he elaborated was shared with several people.
Here is more information about the apocalyptic millenarian UFO cult OST.
Ground Crew Project and Heaven’s Gate
In the lead up to the arrival of comet Hale-Bopp in 1997, there was a large uptick in interest in UFOs, which is a phenomenon that began after WWII when suddenly weapons had been invented that could come out of the sky and destroy an entire city.
One of the people who took advantage of this was Sheldan Nidle who, starting in the 1980s, had created a series of books and video tapes about his theories of the “Galactic Federation” and how humans were destined to “ascend” to another dimension. He brought “starseeds” and “lightworkers” into the forefront of the New Age by channeling a series of aliens for people to aspire to.

With the advent of the internet, Nidle moved his operations online and formed the Ground Crew Project and the Planetary Activation Organization, which is still online, to await the arrival of the aliens for ascension.
The narrative stated that during Earth's entry into the photon belt and no later than December 17, 1996, a mass landing of 15 million star ships of the “Galactic Federation” would complete the raising of the consciousness of humanity using their advanced technology. This would achieve a paradise of sociological and ecological evolution – a galactic and divine society - by 2012.
Nidle was not a particularly accomplished or aggressive cult leader, and his activities largely dissipated over time, as the predictions continued to fail over and over again.
However, infamously, while Nidle was readying the Ground Crew, another UFO cult called Heaven’s Gate was taking far more drastic action to “ascend” to meet the aliens on Comet Hale-Bopp. 39 people committed mass suicide because they were told by their cult leader, Marshall Applewhite, that killing their “corporeal bodies” was the only way to “transit.” Many of them had themselves surgically mutilated.
Applewhite also called his followers “the crew.”
Taygeta Family
According to the “Family of Taygeta” website, Judith Lynn Taygeta (unclear if that is her real name) began getting “telepathic messages” from the Galactic Federation in 2012, the year that Sheldan Nidle said the Earth’s conversion to paradise would be complete. Coincidentally or not, she and her son Michael took the mantle of Nidle’s fictional UFO universe that year and began creating their own cult with it.
Judith says she’s actually a Pleiadian named AYA and Michael says he’s her messenger, himself a Pleiadian named “Kabamur.”

They have millions of followers across numerous related social media accounts. “Kabamur Taygeta” has 175K followers on Twitter alone. When I first became alarmed by this group over four years ago, I received this direct message from Michael “Kabamur” Taygeta where he insults me with transphobic slurs and threatens me with hacking my computer.
I have gotten much worse messages, but the fact that it came from someone with such a large platform, with such deep hooks into people’s minds, raised a lot of red flags, obviously the behavior of a narcissistic paranoid cult leader.
In the years since, they have substantially increased their footprint across social media including huge amounts of autogenerated and rendered AI content, and testimonials from cult members. Here is a scroll of TikTok, with the search term “Kabamur Taygeta.”
“The Shift” is one way this particular UFO cult refers to Ascension, or “transit” as the Order of the Solar Temple called it. Their rhetoric is chock full of New Age euphemisms for leaving the Earth—aka committing suicide. Disturbingly, the Taygetas claim the aliens are far from non-partisan. They say the aliens they channel think Donald Trump is literally divine, hate gay and trans people, and all look like very caucasian humans that should be on the cover of a romance novel. This is their Youtube channel.
The Taygeta family intentionally targeted and fed off the QAnon diaspora, the wandering masses of people who, like the man in the video at the start of this article, felt lost and disappointed that “Q” stopped posting. So they went looking for something new.
The psychological damage done to the population from the “Q” operation has never stopped, as it continues to be perpetuated and mixed in with ideas like an all-white Galactic Federation by grifters and cult leaders like Judith and Michael Taygeta.
With the FBI more interested in attacking truth tellers than dismantling dangerous cults, all we can do is hope that the Taygetas don’t turn their followers into another, far larger episode of Heaven’s Gate or OST. Please be aware these kinds of groups exist and that we have no real enforcement to prevent them from growing out of control. Keep yourself and your loved ones away from anything like them.

This is mind blowing. Jim, thank you.
This addresses the root cause of the current rise of fascism worldwide. Every dictator has had the backing of the popular religious leaders. Trump's religious voters don't even know what he is really doing. All they believe is what their church leaders tell them he is doing. And for those religious followers of yours who feel insulted by this.
Remember.
NO religion has ever had the concept of equal human rights for all people, especially not for women.
NO religion has ever endorsed the concept of democracy. Only fascist kings. Even Buddha was a prince.
No holey book has ever abolished slavery.
No fair trials with juries. Only hearings by fascist kings with absolute power over life and death.
No free speech, or freedom of the press.
Not even freedom of religion.
Preachers are like lawyers. They do not represent the law or morality. They create loopholes to get around it.
