Sad day (night) in France. For the first time, Le Pen’s party will have a parliamentary group of 89 representatives at the assembly (577 seats). Horribly high abstention rate 53%.
Macron lost his majority, and it will be difficult for him to get stuff done (not that the things he got done until now are all that great). French presidents have a lot of power, though. He will need to forge an alliance with “our” Republicans. I hope Le Pen will not try to be the French Marjorie Taylor Greene 🤦🏻♀️. Oh, and the fine voters of my circonscription elected a fascist because, as a guy I know told me yesterday: “it’s ok, fascism doesn’t exist anymore” 🤯
So a similar situation for Macron in relation to the US Congress? France and Germany will be instrumental in fighting fascism. I cannot stand Le Pen. And I believe her father was a Politician as well?
I actually live a few miles out of Nashville city limits, and it is a very Republican, very Christian county. A neighbor of mine told me, “Oh, I don’t care for Trump, but that Ted Cruz. He seems like a good man. Good family values. He seems to really care about people”. 😳 Ummmmm. no?
Her father is an abject torturer, liar, Nazi, fraudster... Politicians rarely talk about religion, here (⬅️separation of church and state), except to lie about Islam. They talk about spending, pocketbook issues, immigration, security (yikes), salaries, taxes, age of retirement etc. Heidi is right, of course, we need to find a way to “activate” dormant voters. Better candidates would be great too.
100% right about Heidi. Looked him up: Jean-Marie Le Pen.
Global. It always was.
I know there are also people who follow RadPod from UK, Australia and Canada.
On the bright side, another friend who has always been a Republican, saw through Trump from the get-go. She said Trump was the “nastiest piece of work she ever had the displeasure laying her eyes upon”. Understatement, but I’ll take it.
