Reading Doug Wilson's beliefs that women should not be allowed to vote and that "Christian women" (his definition of Christianity, of course, lacking morals, values or anything Christ-like) are naturally prettier because all those Lib women take "ugly pills" and that sex is never supposed to be enjoyed by women, who only exist "to receive" from men whose job it is to dominate and plunder......

It reminds one of Vladimir Putin and pals' attitudes about women and masculinity. Interesting that the American right wing always parrots Putin. May they all go down together.

I went to a C of E (Protestant) junior school, and a Catholic comprehensive school in England (UK) in the 80s. I am technically Christian, but was never particularly keen on it.

However I do enjoy real history from antiquity, which is 10 times better than the “greatest story ever told”.

Interesting that the “rapture” was never mentioned when I was at school or at church (if it was, I would have seen it as a red flag). I think maybe Christianity has been watered down over here since it caused a lot of chew a few centuries ago.

Gnostic Informant has a good presentation on extreme evangelicalism from early Christian writings, comparing it to Mafia gangland:

Christian Reconstructionists like Doug and Gary North are at the root of this. It was them that turned charismatics onto theocracy, creating NAR. It was them that teamed up with Ron Paul to create the Tea Party and restart the far right paramilitary movement. It was them who turned abortion into an evangelical issue when it used to be a predominantly Catholic one (Francis Schaffer, the godfather of the evangelical abortion movement was inspired by reconstructionism). They started the homeschool movement that metastasized into the “freak out at PTA meetings” movement.
